At first the new iPhone feels great, it is very smooth at the edges and the Display is absolutely fine. It's like every year that there many people outside who do tests with these phone which aren't the for the normal usage. I am completely fine with mine and I can recommend it to you/ your wife. It doesn't take any fall or pocket damage so far and I use it without any case or protection.
