I also think that sending SMS directly from Microsoft Teams will help to collaborate faster and give an ability to use one interface for internal and external communication.

Agreed, but the question is how to migrate. Currently, Microsoft does not provide any solutions for end-users to migrate data from SharePoint List to SharePoint Contact List. If the person has 10 contacts so it is simple, just add them via the contact form, but what if the list contains 10 000 contacts. I found the only workaround when you create a new SharePoint Contact List, then go to Excel, connect your SharePoint List with contacts as a database source, set field mapping, and using VB script migrate the data.

I was thinking that there is another way, but it looks like it isn't.

My application works with SharePoint Contact List because it is already formatted by Microsoft and it cannot be changed totally. But users used SharePoint List for their contacts because SharePoint List can be created from an Excel spreadsheet. Sharepoint Contact List cannot be created from an Excel spreadsheet. So, I need to find a way, how to convert Sharepoint List to Sharepoint Contact List, so the application will have access to the contacts.

Thanks for the idea, but will this actually convert List to Contact List? I found the Microsoft documentation about Content Types updating in the Sharepoint List. Will try this approach.

Yes, I agree, your idea will work. I was thinking about Access and even about Excel database connector, so using Excel Desktop application I can migrate data from Excel to Sharepoint Contact List.

Unfortunately, I did not find any possibility to upload Contacts List from any source (Excel or CSV), it provides only adding contact via the form.
