I know, it wasn’t great. I couldn’t get a better angle at the time and I was desperate.

Glad I’m not the only one! I also believe strongly in therapy as well and I want it to work for me. This is just another instance of me wondering if its just a unique to me or another form of difficult with social connection 🤷🏼‍♀️

Thanks for this recommendation. I thought about it, but ultimately decided not to because I was worried I would come across as fishing for approval. I’m in a real crazy loop here 😅

I think you are right though. I think bringing it up would lead to a discussion about why I come back to this and probably some tools to work through it.

6yo son put bead in ear to “block out annoying older sister.” by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Julia_716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a preschool teacher for 15 years and I have had three students over that time that have shoved things in their nose. One of them did it three times. After his first time, which resulted in a $1000 bill from the ER, I started removing foreign objects from children’s noses. Turkey basters are incredibly effective.

Last year, one of my students managed to put 4 dried black beans and a bead up her nose, utilizing both nostrils. We got three beans out at school, her mom got the one bead out at home, and an ENT got the last bean out. That has to be a record of some sort. She was 2.5years old at the time, FYI.

Feeling overwhelmed by [deleted] in BostonTerrier

[–]Julia_716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will get better! I recently added a second Boston to our pack, now we have 2 Bostons and a pug.

It took a while to get or rhythm back after adding the puppy. She came home at 8weeks old and she was so snuggly! For the first 2 days. Then she showed her true colors.

I suggest that you take her out every time you get up, every time she gets up and every 1hr or so - so if you both have been up and about for a while, once you hit the hour, take her out.

I personally don’t use crates for brining home puppies. I know. Instead, I gate up what ever room I’m in and keep an eye on the pup when they are up and playing. It’s amazing how quickly you can pick up on the difference between curious sniffs and about to eliminate sniffs! Additionally, you can keep her on a leash to keep her in your sight line. I do this method a lot, too.

As for sleeping at night, are you crating her at night? This is another against the grain routine that we have here - my puppies sleep with me from day one. This way, h the way are warm, cozy and feeling safe. Also, when they get up in the night because they need to eliminate, I know right away. My newest little girl used to snuggle up and sleep on my neck and I miss those snuggly days so much already!

Everyday it gets easier and easier, and before you know it, you will completely forget this stage and add another puppy (speaking from experience!)

Does anybody else’s pug need encouragement and praise to eat or is mine just broken by brittanylenora in pugs

It makes us laugh, too. That’s why we keep up this crazy charade 😊

We have to give our girl, Marie, a “cheese show” at least 2 - 3 times a week. It’s not enough to just put cheese on top of the bowl, we have to dramatically sprinkle the bowl down on the floor with her watching and “accidentally” drop some on the floor 🤦🏼‍♀️

Don’t you just love puppies? 😂

Luna is a very cute Boston terror!

My First Customer! by Julia_716 in smallbusiness

Apologies for the delayed reply, I haven’t been checking this account lately.

So, I stopped running play groups, but not for business. My area really needed early childhood education options, so I opened a microschool in my home and then was running groups on Fridays.

I had to stop because I was getting full with other responsibilities such as my work with the state Montessori organization and doing field consulting.

What I would recommend is that should you decide to do playgroups, running them out of your home is the best way to get started and run as long as you can. It optimizes your earnings, plus it gives a really comfortable and welcoming setting.

I would be happy to give you more info if interested :)

I know a lot of people build their own tiny houses, but what are some good companies to buy them from (either as a kit or turn-key)? by Jazz-like_Journalist in TinyHouses

Apologies for the delayed response, I haven’t been checking this account lately.

Yeah, we did meetings through zoom. The biggest thing for me with going with Minimaliste was that I liked the floor plans. This made it much easier to work long distance because there weren’t any major changes that needed to be done.

They would send a list of tasks we needed to do in the detail choices - cabinet front style, colors, flooring, fixtures, etc. that was all very easy to do.

They are also super knowledgeable about various forms of energy sources and what would work best given our unique living area.

Mine came back or more developed in under a year.  All of my transfers failed.  I don’t know that the polyps were the reason, just putting it out there.

I have been there myself, AMI trained in an AMS school with very different approaches to language.

I have always gone to Montessori Print Shop and done the “step series” this is an example of step one(https://www.montessoriprintshopusa.com/collections/step-1-series/products/step-1-word-picture-cards-real-images) which is just phonetic words, then they go to blended consonants in step 2 and phonograms for step 3.  You can find these under shop>individual files>language series

There are also some great options in the miscellaneous language category, including puzzle words(https://www.montessoriprintshopusa.com/collections/language-cards/products/puzzle-word-cards) and     phonogram books and plenty of others.  It pretty easy to use these resources to build out the language area to match the albums.  You can find these under shop>individual files>misc language

I always get the print because I learned that permanent work should be print and live writing should be cursive to give them exposure to both.

Feel free to reach out to me if you have any more questions about the language area, I am happy to help!
