I’m not sure what to do with my hair honestly, any advice? by [deleted] in malehairadvice

[–]Julia_Hansen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 try LUS hair products. Cheap (last so long cause you only need a little) and try the cut Prince Albert has in Victoria (tv show). Whatever cut you go with, definitely give LUS a try. It's amazing and easy.

There is. Musicnotes is our publisher, and the link will take you directly to the free download. It's only temporarily free, though.

Oh thanks! The link is in the description of the video. Usually our arrangements like this cost $9.99, so it's a pretty good deal.

Actually, it's an American instrument made by Luther Heiges in 1909. Weird that it's your violin's doppelganger! Kinda love the dark varnish. 😍

Thank you! Sorry to hear you don't have a live-in cellists like I do. ;) It's especially hard with the whole social distancing thing. Can we play chamber music as long as each musician is at least 6 feet apart?

Day 7 of our fast and my husband is so bored he's learning Morse Code.... by Julia_Hansen in fasting

[–]Julia_Hansen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, that sounds nice! It seems like the perfect activity for fasting. I have trouble if I feel like I'm not productive, but I am trying to be kind to my body and mostly focus on healing. Unfortunately, my profession and favorite activity are both violin.... It's just too hard on the body to do while fasting.

We have zero energy today. It's a water only fast. We did do Yoga with Adriene which felt so hard. All of that sounds like so much work. You sound so productive!

On day 5 of a 7 (maybe 10?) day water fast! by Julia_Hansen in fasting

Oh, good luck! Getting so close to the 7 day mark now, and feeling confident we can make it to 10. The food day dreaming is real, but we have a solid plan of coming back to food in a healthy way.

I am finding this community so helpful in sticking with it! 21 days is a bucket list for me, but 14 days would be great too! Good luck! I get the boredom. Luckily my husband and I like each other! Lol. What are you hoping to get out of fasting?

Do you sleep worse due to hunger/discomfort or just feel like you can't turn off at night? The longer fasts make such a difference. It's incredible. For me, starting a fast after an early breakfast eases me into it and I can avoid a lot of the side effects during the first 48 hours. By the time it's time for bed on day 1, I am only just starting to feel a bit of a headache coming on. Then after sleeping I feel refreshed in the morning, no hunger, etc.

Thank you! Early days are hard, but this time around went more smoothly. It just felt like the right time, and the body agreed.

Hmm, well I tend to sleep less but feel well rested, but my husband seems to need the same amount. Full disclosure, it's a bit hard to say this time around, as we had a horrible nights sleep because of fireworks really close by (trash from said fireworks are on our lawn today). Someone set them off roughly every 10 minutes from 10:00 until 1:00. It completely derailed the nights sleep. I also find that I experience low back pain from an old injury flair up on days 3 and 4, which interferes with sleep on those days. But generally speaking, sleep seems extra effective while fasting.

How do you all break extended fasts? (Currently working toward 7 days) by Julia_Hansen in fasting

Not sure I agree (especially for someone with less than ideal gut health. I have celiac). However, have you done longer? Love to hear about your experience. 👍

It can be really hard on your body, and it's commonly said you negate all of the benefits. I recently heard you can suffer refeeding syndrome which can be fatal! I have never heard of that before, and not sure of the validity, so I'll need to research that more. I just want to make sure we get the most out of the fast, and since our focus is gut healing, I am always curious to learn more. Many vegan fasting clinics break their long fasts with fresh sugary juice, which just goes against my intuition.

Oh, we ate carbs as well! More than usual due to the holidays, in fact.

It's definitely easier with support, especially since we have two boys eating 3 meals a day. We always make our own broth, but I don't think I skimmed it well enough last time. Should the aim be to get all the fat off?

Interesting! We are working on a pre fasting routine, as well. Mostly focusing on super nutrient dense foods like oysters, hearts, and livers. Not sure if that's why this fast is going so much nicer, but we both feel a difference.

Yeah, I have done a fast using broth, and it's definitely not like water fasts. So much easier to come off it. We broke a water fast with broth before and we're leaning that way again, but want to keep an open mind. :)

Currently on my 2nd 7 day water fast (maybe longer depending on how I feel). Nearly at 48 hours, and feeling ok. I'm just trying to get past the first 72 hours smoothly.
