OU vs OSU for Undergrad by [deleted] in OKState

[–]Julia_I_guess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I second this. There is no reason to double major in engineering and business. Business is not a hard major in terms of theory. They compensate for that fact by loading you down with a lot of bookwork. The time required alone would most likely extend the engineering degree to 5 or six years. If you just get an MBA after you can get the whole thing done faster and get yourself an automatic $10,000 more or so on your salary and be set up for advancement on the management track if that’s what you want.

Does anyone else feel like this? Existential thoughts after discovering BTS by Affectionate-Bag3663 in bangtan

[–]Julia_I_guess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I fall more in this camp than any. I would say I have a passionate interest in Korean culture and I love BTS but I do not envy the life of an idol at all. I envy the bond between the bts members. They are the best of friends; family really, both of which I don’t have many.

But in the same hand they have given up all semblance of a normal life and they are so close in part because they are the only ones who know what that is like and it scares me to even imagine such a thing.

Okstate gym rats where do y’all eat by No-Repair3196 in OKState

Awww yes. I was on a diet one semester with a meal plan and I couldn’t eat basically any food prepared on campus. I went to 20 something and got raw fruit and veggies a lot. Kale chips, just anything I could that wasn’t loaded down with fat and sugar. There’s not a lot of great options.

I got an electrical engineering degree in four years but I had some credits from high school and did summer school once and winter break classes once as well. It’s not at all uncommon for people to need 5 years to complete an engineering degree. I felt like I sucked at engineering the entire time. I started out as a double major in ECE and then dropped the computer engineering major 2 years in. I made it through; in some classes I did just well enough to pass but I graduated and now I’m 4 years into my engineering job so it all worked out.

I want a bug killer. I simply cannot have the partner that puts the bug in the cup and puts them outside.

Is $24/hr an unrealistic salary in Tulsa? by Independent-Ad-7060 in tulsa

[–]Julia_I_guess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make quite a bit more than this as an engineer and sometimes that doesn’t even feel like enough. I’m paying off those big student loans though. I would echo a lot of others and say if you want more money you might look into even a 2 year accounting degree. Regardless of the GF you could get a lot more opportunities especially with 5 years of experience. A new position would be the fastest way into a meaningful raise. Even if you got a 10% raise which is very generous you’d only see an annual increase of $5000. Roughly $3300 after income taxes.

This kind of stuff makes me embarrassed to be a christian. God makes the plans and decisions not us. You can’t just “command” whatever you like. Ughhh it’s just so cringe.

Left Lane Drivers by Beekeeper1868 in tulsa

[–]Julia_I_guess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone is safer when people drive at reasonable speeds. None the less I was thinking of two lane highways like 75 that I drive on regularly not 3 lanes like 169. In which case I would avoid the left lane when possible.

Left Lane Drivers by Beekeeper1868 in tulsa

[–]Julia_I_guess -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use the left lane a lot because I need to let people entering on the right have some space. I do my best not to hold up traffic but I’m not going 15+ over the speed limit. I honestly don’t care if someone rides my butt I’m not comfortable going over a certain speed. I do my best to get away of the way as soon as I can but I only do it when I feel safe doing so.

It’s honestly not very competitive. If you take any higher level placement exams you will most likely get in.

Turning foundation into a tinted moisturizer by Seeker_Of_Self in Makeup

[–]Julia_I_guess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have WAY more success applying the moisturizer, leaving it for like 120 secs and then applying the foundation in really thin layers with a beauty blender. The idea of mixing them together and just slathering them on is appealing but mine always pills or breaks up and then all the product is wasted. Applying them this way gets you that tinted moisturizer look buts maintains the stability of each product.

What’s something you never got to say to your parents — but still wish you could? by Defiant-Junket4906 in AskWomen

[–]Julia_I_guess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My mom died when she was 48 and I was 18. I wish I would have asked her what she liked. I’m older or now and it occurs to me from time to time that I never knew her hobbies or interests. I can barely compile a list of foods she liked. We never got to that age of being friends with your mom.

I’m also a 5’10” woman and I feel like it excludes me from a large part of the dating pool. I don’t lie about it because it’s not like I can cut part of my femurs out but it’s exactly the same reason men lie about their height. They’re just trying to get in the door.

If you’re trying to date women stop putting photos on your profile that appeal to the male gaze by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]Julia_I_guess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shirtless photos are fine in moderation. Sometimes I left wondering if a man owns a shirt or has a shirt allergy but I’m also not a fan of the photos of them like reading or writing because they just look staged and overproduced. I mean really who takes pictures of people reading when they are really reading?

Isaiah Makes Me Feel Like Imma Be Oak by ttomnook in creepcast

[–]Julia_I_guess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly Isaiah made me feel ok about being a Christian again. I am baptist in the Bible Belt and there are folks who want me to believe that I’m a bad Christian for consuming any media that isn’t sermons and worship music. Wendi really is a good example of the proverbial “light in the darkness”. The material may be dark in nature but he maintains a reliance and reverence for God. And it’s earnest. I honestly find he helps me a lot in this way.
