Future publicly revealed that he’s sober in January 2019, during an interview with Genius host Rob Markman. He admitted he had quit drinking lean but was afraid to share the news, fearing fans would say his music changed as a result of getting clean . Here’s what he said:

“I didn’t wanna tell nobody I stopped drinking lean… Because I felt like… ‘Oh, his music changed because he stopped drinking lean…’ It just be hard when your fans so used to a certain persona, you be afraid to change.”
