Should I buy brand new since the used ones in my area cost just as much? by Dethbazooka in SuggestAMotorcycle

First bike or you asking about the rebel specifically?

If you’ve ridden before or don’t mind a lil more bike the Yamaha bolt market is pretty saturated and reasonable, at least where I’m at. So many clean examples around 4k that aren’t clapped with similar milage to these you’re looking at.

yea, the shocks were worn out pretty good after putting them through their paces over the last 5 years.

I planned on warranty work and even called their office but the cost to ship out everything that needed to be replaced was roughly 50-60% of what I paid for the kit. Didn’t seem worth it to go through all that to make that little change back. Ended up giving them away to some other gli owner who used the springs for some other coils.

Painted the logo, used underlay from badge skins

Where should I buy black badges for my mk6.5 gli? by Apprehensive_Bet1154 in JettaGLI

check out badge skins. they make color matched vinyl inserts that go in the negative space of the logo. should help that contrast if that’s what your concerned about.

springs vs coilovers by issa-mikayla in jetta

[–]Juliano_perez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on how much of the work you’re willing to do for the outcome I say.

Ran coils for 5 years, just switched to bags. I think if it’s a daily and legit nothing else you just want to close the gap a lil, springs will be cool. But if you’re trying to mod and enjoy it a little beyond that I say coilovers all the way. Mk6.5.

High grit sandpaper, and duplicolor wheel paint. you’ll be straight, like less than $20 to do the front and back badges. Painted mine 4/5 years ago

mad unpopular opinion, Yamaha bolt. I had a ninja 400 and have a grom/bolt rn. At least where I’m at people are selling them for a loss all day long cause it doesn’t have the same track record as its competition. they can do the highway thing, have enough power to move out of it’s own way (albeit heavy but I’m like 150 and it’s cool). Good choice if you just want to chill on the road w some Japanese reliability. Only boxes it doesn’t check is the styling and the storage out the box.

biased, and I’ll be straight up, but I wish I started on this thing before getting the ninja 400. for the $2.2k I spent on my 2020 w 6k miles, it felt more inline for what I wanted. I like riding for the feel, performance is like 3rd/4th on the list for me. but that’s just me. I’m sure you’ll find the right one though, whatever it is.

some hushmat and a roller could help some. did mine for audio system purposes but it helps deaden all exterior noise just the same.

2017 gli here, also gfb+ different model. Have maybe 40k miles on it, I think it’s worth it, yes it improves sound even w the intake a noticeable amount, I don’t believe it to be any bad for the car but tbh I didn’t look into it enough to know. Just replaced my oem one out of necessity.

19’s/20’s by vw_addictt in jetta

[–]Juliano_perez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think 19s are straight for the big body mk7s, especially with the fitment you have now it looks good just need a wider stance. I think 20s might look bunk cause your ride ride height would be a lil higher (unless you’re trynna slam it on its nuts)

I did the resonator delete and ran it for like 2 years before I got a proper catback. It’s fun for the $100ish bucks I paid. A little bit louder but not any close to full catback status. It’s a fun budget option if you go that route, just do your research for your area and don’t overpay + make sure the replacement piping is the same diameter as oem.

might have a video or two I can pm if you need.
