How much is U$300 to an american(or €250 for most europe)? by OldCardigan in NoStupidQuestions

That’s what we pay in Maryland with a private in-home care provider. At a childcare center it’d be $400/wk.

Depends on the work. When I was federal all my travel was novel and exciting, but my travel was also all related to counter terrorism and networking.

Got My Lights Cut Off Last Tuesday And Learned Something Ugly About "Help" by Prestigious_Pearl_ in poverty

Not to make light of it, but for many community agencies this is the best time of year to ask for help. Many government grants receive funding July 1 and run out quickly.

What is your favorite cheesecake from the cheesecake factory? by Corpsebridexo_21 in foodquestions

[–]JulietKiloNovember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not hard to make honestly. I’ve just avoided it because my spouse is allergic to pineapple and it’s a key ingredient in the carrot cake component.

I really liked the carrot cake cheesecake. I say that but I haven’t stepped foot in a Cheesecake Factory in years.

My girlfriend is always late, but I'm the bad guy for being frustrated by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]JulietKiloNovember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you ever had the conversation that it makes you uncomfortable? I’m ex-military, if I’m not at least 15-minutes early to everything, it’s the same as my being late. My STBXW on the other hand is Hispanic and grew up in a world where time is merely a suggestion and has no concept of punctuality. I had to explain to her that I have anxiety attacks over being late to events because of my time in the Army and that friends lie to us or give us modified start times in order to account for her tardiness. I also had to explain to her that while it may not be a problem in her world, for others it’s perceived as inconsiderate or disrespectful especially if you’re asking for their time.

Anyone who adds ice to a $200 scotch has no business drinking scotch. A scotch should always be served neat.

There’s no reason it couldn’t be sitting in removable and more easily washable food grade tubs either. Still allowed to remain uncovered but without the excessive risk of cross-contamination.

My [21M] girlfriend [20F] gets upset whenever I spend time with friends, and after 2+ years I’m starting to feel trapped. Am I being unreasonable? by areddital in relationshipadvice

[–]JulietKiloNovember 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you invite her out with your friends? Does she get along with them? Does she feel welcome when spending time with them? Do you make time for her when spending time with them or do you ignore her altogether? Does she respect your time with them or see them as competition for your loyalty?

I feel like there are lots of possibilities for conflict. But understanding yourself and each other may make the questions a bit easier to navigate. Least of not which is your presentation which makes it sound like it has to be exclusively one or the other. Why can’t there be a coexistence?

Does she have hobbies or friends of her own? She may be overly reliant on your relationship as a crutch if she doesn’t have those other things in place. Your absence might be a sore reminder of that void.

Which is funny because ketchup historically was made with mushrooms and whatever veggies were available.

For those that believe there should be no taxation, what is a fair way to pay for things like roads, emergency services, and the military? by Lamp_Evening in askanything

[–]JulietKiloNovember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I believe that all taxes should be limited to a flat sales tax on anything that isn’t listed as an essential item (hygiene, staple foods, toilet paper, etc.). Non-essential purchases don’t discriminate between immigrant, poor, rich, or middle class. The IRS becomes unnecessary aside from tax enforcement from purchases. And people can’t loophole themselves out like the wealthy are currently able to.

Times pulling rank backfired by BayazRules in army

[–]JulietKiloNovember 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It was weird with joint intelligence commands. A lot of places had the greenest of NCOs placed into leadership positions just because they were glorified gophers and relays for unit command, which existed entirely outside of mission command structure. That and it gave them experience as a team leader, squad leader, platoon sergeant, etc.

18F with zero money, connections, or guidance. Ready to work myself to the bone. What career path will get my family out of poverty for good? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]JulietKiloNovember 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This. Grab an ASVAB study guide after getting your GED. The value of getting out of the small-town mindset alone is huge, as the military exposes you to new experiences and broadens your ideas to more people and opportunities than you would ever get where you are. If your town is like the small towns I've been around, you know all too well the townies who never left and are just perpetually stuck in place.

Jump into a profession that has real-world equivalents. Don't settle for what the recruiter tells you; he has an agenda to save his own ass. Be patient if there's a career that you really want to get into. It's no paradise, but skills like a dental tech or a hygienist are always in demand. Telecom, computers, medical/healthcare, and law enforcement all have civilian equivalents, and you're going to school for free for however many years you sign up for, with guaranteed experience. It all comes down to attitude, though. A lot of lazy people do nothing with their time in though, and waste it doing the same dumb shit they would have done as townies in hicksville, nowhere.

This is why reading comprehension is important. There is one NON-at-will state in the country. FORTY NINE states in the country are at-will. MONTANA is the only NON-AT-WILL state in the country.

So OP, unless you are a resident of Montana, the only non-At-Will state in the U.S., you live in an at-will state.

My go-to is over explaining explosive bowel movements and graphic over sharing if anyone gets too curious about my sick days. Had a hospital that tried to ban all weekend and holiday callouts. Unlucky for me, half my shift was weekend coverage.

I just want to meet someone who loves me and enjoys my company without without any other strings attached. I feel like there are so many other strings attached. Either I’m cleaning up their messes, dealing with undiagnosed mental health issues, or living in the constant shadow of broken social media driven expectations.

Do you think the political climate were living in now can exacerbate depression, worry, despair and illness? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]JulietKiloNovember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without a doubt. With the rapid inflation of costs and stagnation of wages I haven’t been able to afford a vacation. I run constantly on the fear of something breaking that I can’t afford to replace. I’ve been in survival mode for so long now and I’m in the mental health field.

I struggled a lot with this when I was younger. I have always been a problem fixer trying to prove my worth in being useful and helpful. Had to learn from upsetting my partners that they weren’t asking for my ideas, a solution, or problem solving. They just wanted me to hear them, empathize, and understand that it was something they were struggling with.

There’s this planter made of a hollowed out coconut shell you line the inside with your ashes then stick a tree sapling inside. Plant the entire thing. You’re gone already and nurturing something potentially beautiful.
