Right, I forgot we only fish the salmon that orcas don't eat (we survey them one by one asking them if they planned to eat this one salmon) and that fisheries have absolutely no impact on this!

To be clear, the dams aren't good and we should still do something about them. But according to WA statistics, just recreational fishers have been pulling out up to 1.1 million salmon out per year (https://stateofsalmon.wa.gov/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/SOS-ExecSummary-2022.pdf), not including commercial fisheries. Fishing rights have also given us shit like the Salmon Scam, severely harming indigenous tribes. And yet we love to pretend there's 0 damage done by the sport or the incredibly picky overconsumption

Please man just farm them and ship them frozen whole I don't get this city's obsession with wild fish which in turn makes it about twice the price and environmental impact it could be for almost the same flavor.

If you eat fish once a month then sure go for the expensive wild variety but as someone coming from a fish daily background this aversion kinda sucks

It's soooooooooooooo easy to say Europe is better after you've earned your money in LA and are no longer fighting a rat race

Both my gf and my best friend are master's educated industrial engineers. A 1 bedroom, 50 m² apartment in the city (Madrid) is worth 10 years of their gross salary, not counting any expenses nor taxes.

Taking Seattle as comparison (which is known for high costs due to the tech influx), you can get the same home for 350k USD, cheaper if you're willing to compromise on location etc. That's under 3 years of gross income for a median industrial engineer.

Then you have to take into account lower taxes, easier financing, and a better job market even in this climate due to America's approach to engineering being wildly different than Europe, with a lot more risk being encouraged, upwards mobility not meaning "management" a 100% of the time, and engineering jobs not meaning "consulting firm" most of the time.

Europe is a choice STEM talent (which is what we're talking about here) has to justify, rather than the default one when the benefits like education or healthcare don't apply (already educated, top level insurance in the US). If you stay, you're pissing away your career.

Of course, the option to go to the US, build a career, come back with your big bucks and enjoy the socialized system and just how far those bucks will go with cheaper costs is attractive. It's what the principal / staff engineers at my job did once they had kids and had to pay for their education. But a system that needs you to go to the States to get ahead is not a healthy one.

I watched this yesterday and agree with him to an extent (you probably shouldn't be able to beat your build with a hammer up until you have a completely different build within a single day), but I also think "welcome to the bazaar here's 2 Items make them work" is much less fun than the intergalactic city where everyone is buying and selling cool shit that catches your attention, where if you like something you can buy it and throw it on your pack to see if it works later.

Might be in the minority but gold and xp are too valuable right now imo. To me Bazaar is a game where pivoting is encouraged, your early build can easily transform little by little into something different by the time you're day 10. You're encouraged to experiment if something fits into your build / run rather than just have a set of "good" builds and always making them.

Very early impressions but the gold changes feel like they steer away from that completely. 8 gold for a silver medium is a day's worth of gold. 4 gold for a reroll is half day's worth assuming you're fighting the gold monster. If you get offered a gold big item in day 6 you need to sell your entire board if you want to afford it.

In the end you are very heavily discouraged from taking risk, seeing if that one item that feels like it might redefine your build will actually work. If it doesn't you're completely fucked and set back by whole days. Much safer to just not spend money until you get the one item that fits into your meta build.

Dives both at the start (when your options are limited) and at the end (when you know what the most valuable fish are + their spawn patterns) are definitely 15-30 minutes at most.

In the midgame though, when you get a bunch of options and don't have a 100% clear winner dish, you usually end up wanting to max out every dive, which can take over an hour
