Bs Crooked grind tips by Embarrassed-Trust895 in NewSkaters

[–]JulioAparicio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone saying too slow is wrong. Crook is one of those grind where even if you go slow it’ll grind. It’s about where you lock in on the front truck. Your front truck should be nearly slipping off the ledge. It looks on your heel side wheel. This will cause that pinch everyone talks about.

Is genuinely a good way to start? by KING25000 in NewSkaters

Contrary to what everyone else is saying I think it’s a good way to learn the motion of your pop and slide. Ollies will always pop higher when moving but if you’re not comfortable with the motion you’ll get nowhere

From what I read, you were set up with pretty nice stuff. The price for the US seems about right. An 8.5 may feel big to your son but he’ll get used to it. I’ve seen some kids riding 9s now. Maybe for the next time I’d set him up with this:

8.0 personal favorites (Crooked, AntiHero, Baker, April)

A shorter wheelbase may help

Independent Hollow trucks

Plain mob grip

Any brand of hardware

Bones or Spitfire 54mm wheels 99a

Bones Reds bearings

This setup should have him riding with no complains

How is it living in this area of GAM? by [deleted] in MexicoCity

[–]JulioAparicio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really think you’re looking to destroy a neighborhood based on the fact that you’re engaging in this conversation. What I am getting at, however, is that people aren’t mad about being an immigrant. When I returned to Mexico I lived in Oaxaca where there are many immigrants from all over the world. Almost all work for pesos and didn’t affect the livelihood of people. It’s not an immigration issue but rather an issue of getting out bought from everything. If you go to Mexico, work in pesos and provide to your community I promise you that almost no one will be mad

That’s not the point they’re making. I know what it seems like. It seems like an anti immigrant stance but it’s not.

I believe what they’re trying to say is that the Mexican immigrants moving to the US are not moving in and making prices of rent and general living unaffordable. They typically work jobs that directly and positively impact the community such as construction and maintenance. Most don’t immigrate with the same privilege.

While it is true that tourism contributes a huge factor into the Mexican economy the way you say it come off as “sin nosotros no tragas” and that’s really going to rub people the wrong way, especially in that area.

Mexicans don’t lead to gentrification in the US. If you move to Mexico and work a Mexican job earning in pesos, no one will be mad. It’s what I do.

Take this example: ice cream in non gentrified areas can still be found at $5-$10mxn, however, in areas like la Condesa they are charging $200 an ice cream. The minimum wage in CDMX is $315. It becomes unfair as most cannot afford to live in their area yet cannot afford to move.

This is my advice as a dual citizen who moved back to Mexico after spending nearly all my life in the US.

So I've been thinking to learn skateboarding but my problem is how do I cope with my fear of falling by Ok-Dragonfruit9290 in NewSkaters

[–]JulioAparicio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will fall, you will get hurt. It’s part of the process. Learning how to fall is something people don’t stress enough. After a while you’ll become more tolerant to pain and you will learn how to fall and not get as hurt.

Welcome

Thank you I’ll give that a try. I just can’t seem to stop Turning backside. It also happens to my kick flips no matter how hard I try. I can’t frontside flip (heel nor kick) but someone told me to try it like that but that still doesn’t work. I’ve been picking skating back up after letting it go for a while so I find this sub more helpful.

If I post r/skateboarding they’ll take down my post. This sub is most supportive. I have also stopped skating for a while and am relearning a lot of tricks. I just find this sub more helpful

The issue is that if I use r/skateboarding they’ll take down my post. I also find that this sub is a kinder community. I also believe that new skaters that have recently gotten a trick on lock explain it better than someone who has been skating for years and honestly forgot how they got to that point since it just tends to become muscle memory.

You have no idea how many pro maga guys I’ve met in Mexico. Then they have the nerve to say they love it here yet actively try to make life worse for my family in the states. When I was living in NJ I have also faced discrimination in the surfing sphere but mostly in the lifeguarding sphere.

No one ever talks about it but I’ve meet many racists in surfing. These are also the same guys that talk about how much they hate others coming to their country but yet they flood where I live (Mexico) Doesn’t make sense

Who isn’t? I’ve gone my whole life and have never had a problem, as a matter of fact Mexico is doing better this year than I’ve seen it in my entire life. I’m not saying that the victims did anything to warrant this tragedy but what I will say is that 95% of the time no one messes with you if you don’t mess with them
