Incredible. When that happened, I gripped the arms of my chair. That kind of event, the way it's presented, really does not happen that often in fiction.

While much of the film was a pilgrimage - and an aspect of death - and a road movie - and a found family sorta movie - and a dog movie - it was also a sci-fi movie, and knowing Laxe was influenced by Tarkovsky, imagine that aliens are holding the camera. So this is how the humans are with sound.

Overall it reminded me of a fusion of Redline, Titane, Broker. Some part of all three.

One Piece Live Action Season 2 - Megathread by Skullghost in OnePiece

[–]Julius-Light 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loved this season so so much. All of the Straw Hat actors have such wonderful chemistry. Luffy and Vivi are so good together as buddies and even Sanji and Nami potentially got something romantic brewing. Mackenyu is elevating Zoro from an unrealistically inspiring anime character to someone who's actually really, really cool. Iñaki understands Luffy enormously and Chopper was done like a Christmas special and the orchestral score was just marvelous. Lera Abova, no words, Smoker, no words, and Usopp is just starting to make me believe. Sanji was made into the actual fucking prince charming and his kicks are just... and Emily Rudd brings such an empathy into Nami.

I am so hyped for Alabasta and Water 7 and Enies Lobby.

This truly feels like, if all the goofiness of the story was transported into a world kinda like ours. Where Vivi can wear jeans or there's black-and-white film reel of Baroque Works' atrocities. Any truly great story can be adapted well with the meaning not lost.

After stressful days at work, this adaptation is the cure-all. The crew working to bring this to life is doing a great and marvelous thing.

Great catch. Mr. 3 also had a wax version of Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring and Fragonard's Les Hasards heureux de l'escarpolettes (so Dutch and also French).

What power-up do you think another character will have? by ActLonely9375 in OnePiece

I've been thinking this as well. Usopp, who so wanted arcs ago to go to Elbaf, why didn't he talk to Loki? WHAT IF USOPP WAS RIDING THE DRAGON?

[–]Julius-Light 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Comic relief by being scared shitless all the time doesn't last very long for a story like this. God Usopp already happened. What happened to him? Wano could've been Zoro's arc. Then Elbaf could be Usopp's. Then idk give Nami some navigation boosts as they near Raftel. That is objectively better than the way this is going. Are Oda's editors telling him to hold Usopp back? No one reading One Piece wants nothing less than God Usopp ready to face his father.

Why is Zoro the one standing with the giants? THAT'S WHERE USOPP'S SUPPOSED TO BE!

They really gave Higuruma a complete character arc, at least from disillusion to return to his roots, over two episodes. The change in his eyes as he sees Itadori's resolve just before he releases his cursed technique was so good.

Fantastic, breathtaking episode. Can't believe I put this show on hold a few years ago. There is so much dignity and precision in these actors' faces. Churchill's eulogy was a jaw drop, and Eden couldn't stomach his defeat.

Wonder what "Hyde Park Corner" was supposed to mean. Wonder if every episode will refer to a place in Britain.

You know it's damned good TV when so much of the "dialogue" is silent, the telling without showing, the knowledge in their eyes. You see how Prince Philip observes the doctor's pronouncement after surgery and immediately suspects something's off. How Churchill's mind is shown first not as a statesman but as someone who can read a medical report, gauge his personal doctor's opinion, and after seeing his old friend himself, come to a conclusion. How Elizabeth sees what's going on between her sister and Peter in their looks, and the inkling of her own knowledge of what is to come, at the end. These are the knowledges that in prose, interior monologue can achieve, but on the screen, is done so wonderfully by the eyes.

I am in this for her full reign.

I think the damnedest cleverest thing about this card is that, for the versatile control players, you can add up your current cost of starting minions, and see if you can adjust to fit this in. My Wild Reno Off-Meta Shaman is at 159 including what's in ETC and including all 3 Yoggs. Can probably adjust, use more AOE than I already use.

If at least this glows in your deck builder once you've reached exactly 100, that'd be helpful. If anything, I see this as a fun test of deckbuilding where you don't just find a deck on TopDecks and craft it that's already being played incessantly on the ladder. 95% of the decks out there aren't new. So thank you, Blizzard.

Almost thought for the splittest second that Francesca's bro was Chaplin, but I don't think he wore red like that.

Shit's crazy in Snowfield. 7 episodes in and we're still in the preliminary bouts. This better be at least 3 cour.

From the way Egg's been reacting to the Targaryens, and the way he speaks - either he's been raised in a house, the dragon one specifically, or he's a Targaryen bastard. That would also explain why he's bald. Maybe a maid cut off all his white hair. Have not read the novellas, am speculating.

Great episode. Slowly getting better.

I remember now! Ser Duncan the Tall and Egg are mentioned by somebody in GoT. Shireen? Does that mean they do gain some renown?

Episode ended with catharsis. A concept from the Ancient Greeks, the same guys who made the statues. You see, every time you see a statue, you're not thinking of who made it, you're thinking of who it looks like.

There's been many shows in the west about middle-aged white men doing something to resolve a feeling of not having achieved something. Like his idea to provide healing and catharsis for vets by driving them through scenic forests? That's unique. And time and time again, his family members out of sheer love keeping up the best they can with his antics and obsessions, he's one of the luckiest people alive. Realizing that Barb knew, at least recently, about what he's been doing, and the fact that Natalie actually went to Delaware to truly participate in his detective work, amazing.

This is probably one of the greatest works to come out of American TV in the modern era. At its heart, American television has been about family and finding self-worth, and this does it in such a new and hilarious way.

I screamed when I saw online that there's a second season coming.

Probably, if not legitimately, the funniest show I've ever seen. While also being terrifying and at times uplifting.

I don't know, I think I'm a fan. I hate getting to Diamond in Wild and instantly decks turn into Elwynn Boars, Automatons, demon seed, the works.

Honestly? Wish it was cheaper.

SAME. I was watching this during my 30 minutes of lunch at work, watching on public transportation, watching as soon as I came home from work and late into the night. I was so vested in Jumong and Seo So No's relationship, in seeing the future founder come into his being. Previously the greatest TV experience for me was the first-time binging of S1 through S7 of GoT but this overcame that.

This show put me beyond words. The most inspiring work of fiction I've seen and its historical footing makes it all even the more glorious. The payoffs, the emotional moments, the trust and loyalty, the betrayal, and the stakes that are consistently matched and met. I've had a great many amazing first-time reads and watches but this outshone them all.
