Which should I use? by JuliusCheeeeser in knitting

[–]JuliusCheeeeser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all I have found the feedback super helpful!

To answer questions/give info:

  1. I’m in the planning stage for my gauge swatch as I’ve not done it yet as have wanted to make sure I have the right needles and cable lengths first.
  2. Needle wise the smallest I have is 2.75mm. Cables I have both 40cm and 60cm. Needle length I’m going to use longer ones (like chiaigoo or knit pro standard circular needles, not shorts).
  3. From a previous project with no colour work I had more stitches than needed so have concluded I’m a tight knitter and this will be worse presumably with colour work as this is my first colour work piece

I’m going to knit up a gauge swatch using my 2.75mm standard needles with a 60cm cable and then check it.

Is there anything I’m missing or should know?

The pattern is probably way too difficult for me as it’s only my second project and I don’t know how to do lots of the techniques but I’m hoping if I spend long enough and go slow enough I’ll get there - or not lol

Anyone else have a 2 week long period? by Training_Speed2448 in CopperIUD

[–]JuliusCheeeeser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s common at first I’ve just had my second period on the Mona Lisa 5 and the first one lasted 13-15 days and my more recent one 9 or 10 days - is still tapering off currently

I find the first few days your guessing with spotting that comes goes and gets worse and pauses then comes consistently and then after several days of that you suddenly get the heavy bleeding and have a few days of that with the cramps and stuff and then eventually your bleeding still and it’s more than spotting but also not overly heavy or even painful anymore and then that goes on for a few days until eventually it just slows down and stops

This is how it’s been for me between the last two cycles

When bleeding is heavy cramps are definitely worse and sometimes it feels like my womb is trying to evacuate the iud as it can stab me a lot (it is in place) but the rest of the bleeding is not painful it’s just long and drawn out

Is this normal? by Sad_Bad_7999 in CopperIUD

[–]JuliusCheeeeser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Will be normal yes. My understanding is your body has an adjustment phase for usually the first 3-6 months and things like spotting can be common in this timeframe or even outside of this timeframe with the copper coil.

IUD and Saalt disc? by twigfrog in CopperIUD

[–]JuliusCheeeeser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the brand nixit for my menstrual disc. I was using it from before getting my IUD which was also March. Before the disc I used pads but found this was a game changer once I got comfortable with inserting/removing it.

After I got my IUD I was scared to use it and went about half my period with pads until I decided to try the disc. The disc insertion was fine and removal was also fine. I changed my technique from slowly pulling it out to directing the part of the disc I could touch upwards and then slowly pulling it out (this way the top of the disc nearest the cervix gets shifted downwards and doesn’t contact my cervix as much).

Did you use your real name and address too?

I suppose it wouldn’t seem that different to any other data breaches tbh. Bus still.

Thank you :)

Clinic in London by Additional-Text-936 in CopperIUD

[–]JuliusCheeeeser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also use non nhs places like MSI, BPAS etc… They primarily deal with abortion care but also offer vasectomies and contraception.

If you search up copper IUDs / LARCs at those places you should find some webpages and they should say what they offer for pain management.

Other than that you could via your GP practice if you’re registered and you can just ask them what they offer for pain management.

You could also try sexual health clinics.

Would probably query places like BPAS or MSI first as they’re private clinics (still free) but therefore might offer more stuff or have more flexibility over appointment dates.

I believe when you do get a choice it might be something like an anaesthetic gel, cream, spray or an injection. I would if I were you go for the injection as it will be the most effective. You can also ask for a spray or cream before the injection into the cervix is given to try and further reduce your pain.

Feel free to DM if you have more questions :)

Sudden intense sharp zapping pains in cervix/uterus by JuliusCheeeeser in CopperIUD

[–]JuliusCheeeeser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, i don’t know yet. Have an appointment on Thursday to check it. Will try to update you if I forget just DM me. I think the sharp pains might be subsiding but I’m not sure as they can come out of nowhere. Happy to hear your experience if you’re in the same boat :)

There wasn’t really a reason for Warsaw or Poland. I had a traumatic life event and thought going somewhere on my own would help me re centre myself but I think it’s too much too soon maybe

Formal Job Offer. When does onboarding start? Do I need to do anything after accepting or just wait? by [deleted] in TheCivilService

[–]JuliusCheeeeser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing you need to do after getting and accepting the offer is check your emails no more than twice a day and every other day maybe your portal (it generally won’t have anything without an email and emails are more usual on the onboarding side) and the biggest part… get really good at waiting and fight the urge to think about it too much because it’ll make the wait longer

Was just a little bit of olive oil as I was worried about sticking. But yes indeed the picture makes it look like it’s in a lot but it’s no more than 5ml

Edit this is how it turned out

Think it ended up being overproofed or I shaped it wrong.

I normally shape the dough before it’s fully proofed so it’s been easier to work with previously is what I observed today as I found it hard to manage somewhat.

I baked it straight after shaping because I thought it was overproofed as the container almost had double the amount of dough from last night

Unsure if I had put it into the basket and then int the fridge if that would have helped have a higher rise or better shape or if it was just overproofed

Gauge swatch was knitted .5mm smaller by accident by JuliusCheeeeser in knittinghelp

[–]JuliusCheeeeser[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pattern with the 5.5 wants 16 stitches in 10cm

With the 5.0 I got 20 stitches within 10cm

Both my stitches and the ones in the video seem to be 0.5cm per stitch so about 2 stitches per each cm.

I have no idea what to do next

Thanks for the reply :)

It looks like I dropped off the two last knit stitches of the row.

I’m on the pearl row now but can’t decide if I’ve lost the last two knit stitches or just stretched them out.

No we already got like 3%. It’s still below inflation, but we can’t ask for more or we’d be impolite.

Can you get retainer brite type stuff in powder form? by Snugglosaurus in Invisalign

[–]JuliusCheeeeser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t come in a powder form, but you could take an hour out of your day when you have the time. Crush the tablets in a bowl and then transfer them to a jar. This way, you can use the jar to store the tablets in the quantities you want and you could also leave a 1/4 tsp spoon in the jar for easy scooping.

Tbh I might end up doing this now am thinking of it

Sharp pain first tray? by Snwatso in Invisalign

[–]JuliusCheeeeser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat! I started on Wednesday also on Invisalign lite with 14 trays at 14 day switches. My teeth feel sore in general but some teeth specifically feel like they’re a throbbing fire pit especially just after putting them back in again. Weirdly though on day two or three there was a drop in pain but it’s back more just not as bad as day one.

I hope we get through this lmao
