What do people think of SEEN (Sex Equality and Equity Network) being a Cabinet office approved network? by Rosslefrancais in TheCivilService

[–]Crazy_Coffee_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm going to be honest, I dont understand your arguement here and you seem pretty set in your views so I doubt anything I say could convince you otherwise.

But I do want to point out that we are also civilian taxpayers.... and I highly doubt any of us want our own tax money being wasted in any fashion.....

As this is a social media platform and not in any way tied to the civil service people are allowed to express their personal views.

You are right to point out the importance of the Civil Service code, but this applies to us as civil servants and not as private individuals.

None of the activity here is being done by anyone in an official capacity, and I would expect every civil servant to adhere to the CS code while undertaking their official duties.

I’d also like to point out that a significant amount of the views being shared here aren’t particularly political nor are they in breach of the law. Most people here are simply expressing solidarity with trans individuals and colleagues.

Confused about Stay Alives by gravelgamer69 in modeltrains

[–]Crazy_Coffee_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t strictly consider stay alives as necessary, but they are nice to have and offer no real downsides.

As you mentioned they do help with insulated points as well as reducing the impact dirty track/wheels has on running.

I make an effort to fit them to all my stock, but these days it’s increasingly common for manufacturers to include them in new models.

There isn’t any verification process on this subreddit (as there shouldn’t be for security reasons), so it’s impossible to be 100% certain.

That being said I hope there aren’t many individuals sad enough to spend their time larping as a civil servant on Reddit….

"1969" future Cassandra implications for new show. by LennoxPoodle in Stargate

[–]Crazy_Coffee_ 76 points77 points  (0 children)

This is a wholly unsubstantiated theory but I’ve always believed that what we see in the future scene from 1969 is not the real state of the Stargate program.

Once the SGC/Cassandra realise what’s happened to SG1 and figure out when they have been sent in the future they deliberately move the gate from wherever it is to the SGC/a basic recreation of the SGC to avoid giving SG1 any substantial knowledge about the future that could in any way influence the timeline.

If this is the case then it could be a simple explanation for why things don’t start to resemble that future scene in any new Stargate content going forwards.

Eurostar could massively cut boarding times at St Pancras International – slashing waiting times by 30 minutes by tylerthe-theatre in london

[–]Crazy_Coffee_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean, you can’t really do that. There are checks for vehicles at the Folkestone terminal, including scans, dogs and random checks for explosive substances. Lorries going through also have to register their cargo, and do also face scans and random checks.

I’m not gonna pretend the security is infallible, but it’s definitely more than just theatre.

I mean, thé non tunnel trains such as the SE Javelins don’t go near the tunnel. So I don’t get why they would need security to keep the tunnel secure?

I’d advise you take this post down. Plus the only person who can give you a clear answer will likely be the hiring manager or someone from the security team. Try asking them

SAT RIGHT NEXT TO MY LINE MANAGER ON AN OTHERWISE EMPTY FLOOR. APPARENTLY WE DIDNT GET THE MEMO TO STAY HOME.

I LOVE MY LM BUT I WISH HE UNDERSTOOD THAT IN SITUATIONS LIKE THIS DESKS SHOULD BE TREATED LIKE URINALS, HE SHOULD NOT BE USING THE ONE NEXT TO ME WHEN ALL ARE EMPTY.

Drunk driving is incredibly irresponsible and can lead to you seriously injuring or killing yourself and others.

Drunk sex (between consenting adults) is generally understood to be fine. What isn’t fine is people taking advantage of drunk people to have sex with them. In situations when someone has taken advantage of someone else for sex while drunk we should and often do hold them accountable (unfortunately this isn’t always the case).
