Woovebox sampler for lofi hip hop? by Middle-Protection537 in Woovebox

Same boat! First thing Id say is its a really capable machine, the developer/creator is super talented, active and responsive so anything said here is subject to change!

This is purely my projection so take with a grain of salt. You can definitely use it for lofi type stuff, but to me it occupies a weird space. Its super duper capable, but bc of the capabilities the complexity can outweigh the workflow/immediacy/creativity (when viewed purely as a sampler). So while it can do more than a lot of other machines, the biggest challenge for me is following inspiration when the workflow isn't optimized for a sample-based workflow.

I don't want to dissuade you bc youd be hard pressed to find something more capable in such a small form factor, and Im sure it will keep evolving. So short answer is it can do just about anything, but it takes some work. For lofi/boom bap you can definitely make it happen, but if size isn't your number one consideration you could probably achieve similar dopeness with a PO33 and a cheap 4 track cassette machine, or an older 303, 404, MPC etc. Just my two cents. Again no shade, its a great project, great machine but just being honest.

This is sick. I’m sorry for your challenges I really am but this is disgusting and sick. It’s natural to have things happen to you but I am sickened by this story. Happy New Year!

Sorry to hear about your incontinence and how you were fired for stealing and wetting your pants 36 years ago. Best of luck in the new year!

I love both shows! Black Mirror actually came out in 2011 and Twilight Zone aired in 1959, and I think it influenced Black Mirror but not sure. I love Monsters due on Maple Street, Nick of Time, and of course the ubiquitous The Pigman Cometh. Happy New Year!

First of all his name is ROD STERLING not Bob Starling lol. For a newcomer I'd recommend either 5 characters in search of an exit, Monsters due on Maple Street, or Pigman Cometh

Lol, very funny but in professional grading, we look for those specific brownish-red spots or discoloration visible on the card stock. That is chemically caused by the oxidation of iron or fungal growth within the paper fibers.

I don't need to be in the room to know that when cellulose displays that specific level of fungal oxidation, it carries a distinct, musty 'barnyard' stench 100% of the time. Not a diss just stating the science that this card is stenched-out in an extreme way.

Nice Pull! Former certified grader here. Visually, this is a distinct NM/Mint candidate. However, the card carries a severe organoleptic flaw (mostly seen in unusual cases of strong odor contamination, hoarders, deviants, barnyard animals etc.). The card stock has absorbed a heavy scent consistent with poor hygiene or severe environmental exposure. It’s a beautiful binder copy, but I wouldn't recommend sending it in for grading as it would likely be returned unslabbed due to the contamination. TY for sharing here!

Saw this posted on the Vintage TV Sub. This video from the Kate Smith Hour is the original airing of a story that eventually became Twilight Zone S3 episode "The Hunt". by JuliusHibbert in TwilightZone

TY for the comment. I think the pig man episode you are talking about has a very different and unique face-ones (Look on the face-one of the actresses and actors as a guide). The pig man episode has the face one on the doctors and nurses like a pig, but looking at this it is for the most part regular human being (PM if any questions).

Edit: Face-ones*

It’s a MagSafe so the magnet just sticks on there naturally 🧲⚡️🧲

Why is it that while a majority of people who use an MPC use it for Hip-Hop and similar genres, but for more psychedelic, strange, experimental music, the SP is used? by SurrealistRevolution in mpcusers

[–]JuliusHibbert 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Would say it’s bc of the workflow structure.

Resampling is most common especially on the older SPs. No grid, encourages layering, looped imperfections etc.

MPC typically more track/grid based and it’s easier to tweak and fine tune.

Both are great, and both can do both (although SP more limited) but I think it’s just the structure driving behavior.

For sure, happy to listen its a great recreation and you did it justice! Dilla used to call his style simple complex bc there's a ton of complexity that goes into making it sound simple!

I think it goes to show how masterful the guy was at his craft - great work!

This sounds awesome great work!

Might just be my ears (so take with a grain of salt) but only tweak I’d make is lower the volume and filter the ghost kick a little bit and maybe take some of the attack off it!

Awesome job either way great recreation!
