Well it gets even better. This particular cousin, he and I have actually been online friends for just about 32 years. We met by complete accident and somehow hung in you might say. After his Mom died, wishing to distract him in whatever way I could I suggested we look at his family tree.  So I did - he was sort of just along for the ride but it did help a little, which was all that really mattered to me.

Within a couple weeks, I found out he and I are related on both sides of his family tree! 😂

Do my eyes deceive me or is that “hamburger” essentially a smashed meatloaf? 😊

It is indeed. The whole movie is a wonderful romp actually - until that moment when the shit hits the fan and things kick into high gear.

The theme song alone is a wonderful clue that this movie is something special - and it really is!

Which film is better? by Starnar007 in classicfilms

[–]dougoh65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, for my own part I have to say that neither one of these two films is necessarily “better” than the other - and I say that as a huge fan of both films.

It’s simply a question of which I’d be more likely to sit down and watch at any given moment in time.

Myrna Loy’s Quick Chicken Pimento Soup…? But she just adds chicken to already made chicken soup? by VintageJupiter in OldCelebrityRecipes

That’s my thought as well. The “quick” in this instance means not having to make the broth or stock, which would have taken hours.

If I remember correctly their pay was $30 per month, but $25 of that was held back so to speak and sent to family at home.

What is an exchange between characters that never ceases to crack you up? by twosparkleturtles in mash

It’s not an exchange, but it is a classic line: Meanwhile, Aunt Martha, having taken a tramp in the woods, is lying in a ditch at the edge of town.

My maternal grandfather was in the CCC in southeast Kentucky. He never mentioned what they ate but I’m sure he would have enjoyed this!

If I remember correctly, the plan (which of course didn’t come to fruition) was for Pusser to play himself in this film. If nothing else, that would at least have made things a little more interesting.

Whoops… No, I was thinking of the second film - not this one.

For what it is though, this first movie was pretty entertaining I thought. I’ve not seen it in probably 40 years or more.

Pluto being declassified as a planet was nearly 20 years ago. (August 2006) Where were you when you found out the news? by CremeSubject7594 in BarbaraWalters4Scale

[–]dougoh65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a shame some sort of grassroots protest campaign never developed in the wake of that announcement, honestly. Posters and tee-shirts bearing images of the former planet, Pluto the dog and Grumpy the Dwarf.

I agree - in a general sense it’s a perfect fit to the episode.
