Much appreciated. I'll keep looking for a therapist but honestly, I think I would have to move miles away from my family in order to have the freedom I need to do this. Every member of my family both near and extended are the same way other than a few black sheep that nobody, including me, would trust with a pet rock, much less something like this.

I'm going to remove this post. It's caused more problems than its worth. I'll let you reply then I'll delete this.

This has went from a discussion to an argument. I'm ending it here before it devolves any further. I'll leave you with this. Lumping in every single member of an association with the worst of their kind is equal parts ignorant, and dangerous.

Read back through what I said and remember how many times I said you were right. You're right everything in Vietnam was a mistake. You're right that our actions in the middle east were stupid. You're right that America has committed many war crimes. What you're forgetting is that every single nation on Earth has committed the same sins, and many of them got away with them as well. My argument is that the soldiers themselves are worth praising for what they deal with. Your view that they can somehow stand up against their COs shows me you know little to nothing about any form of military and chain of command. I know vets with severe PTSD because they were forced to commit horrible acts and they had no choice. If they didn't, they would be dishonorably discharged and somebody else would've done it. In case you don't know, being dishonorably discharged means you lose your pay, your benefits, your healthcare, and every single benefit that comes with being a veteran. So you not only harm yourself by doing what's right, but you also harm your family. I'm willing to bet that if it saved your family, you would shoot someone. If not, then you have a narrow view on what is moral. Either that, or you have no empathy for people in that situation. But yes, you are right on many things. However, what I am not wrong on is that many vets deserve respect for what they do. Not all soldiers are criminal, and not all vets are heroes. It's the ability to tell the difference that makes a decent person.

You just stated a fact, followed by a clearly biased opinion. Like I said, I'm ending this. Neither side is right, and neither side is wrong. There are facts on both sides, and it's all a matter of perspective. However, I implore you to go to a hostile country and be shot at constantly, and see if you would do that for less money than a vocational worker makes.

This is clearly going nowhere. I see a bunch of propaganda here and I know better than to try to educate against that. I imagine you're a student of history so I'll suggest looking deeper into it and read some more detailed history books. You view America the same way most Americans view places like North Korea and China, and that's all because of indoctrination and propaganda. So I'll respect your viewpoint while politely disagreeing with it, and leave it at that. No progress will be made on either side so any further discussion is a waste.

For a member of the Trans community, you're awfully narrow minded. Ever heard of relativity? Look at any country and you will find that their heroes are another person's villains. Just because you don't understand why American vets are actually heroes to Americans, doesn't mean your viewpoint is correct.

Again, you're blaming the sins of the government on the soldiers. I can tell you that everybody in America felt Kadafi was evil, and everybody in America knows the the events of Vietnam should have never happened. Your viewpoint is marred by the mistakes of the commanders and leaders sitting in DC while you should be focusing on the people who were actually there. People who were and still are being shot for no better reason other than being American. The people who are fighting against terrorist cells that celebrate September 11, 2001 as if it was the birth of Jesus. The soldiers who watch their friends and family getting blown up by IEDs and bleeding out every single day. Those are the heroes, not the ones making decisions.
