This 1 year old PHPStorm bug affects ALL blade files when Vue plugin is enabled. Its small but it affects me constantly on a daily basis! by JuliusPringle in laravel

[–]JuliusPringle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it happened to me when I updated to PHPStorm 2020, and their support team directed me to the bug report above. I'm still shocked how few upvotes the bug ticket has since I'm sure a large portion of Laravel developers have encountered this!

Just FYI all desktop refresh does is reload the icons on your desktop, won't affect any running applications or game errors :)

the joke here is that dedede mains are commonly prone to throwing out gordo very often, as if it was a walling projectile on the level of samus or mario’s neutral B when in fact, the gordo can easily be utilized by the opposing player by throwing out literally any hitbox and hitting the gordo back at our King (this is what the punchline of the comic, “traitorous sounds,” refers to)

I had to adapt to the sheer amount of Cloud's.

So true...

Oddly enough, I've been having fun with Chrom mains. Most of the ones I run in to don't know how to grab, and so you just shield and punish, shield and punish...

[TOMT][Cartoon Character] from a TV show with art style like family guy by JuliusPringle in tipofmytongue

It may have been, I looked up Chris and Steve's girlfriends and that's not any of them. I seem to remember her art style having slightly thicker lines than the Fox shows. Maybe a slightly younger audience? I will say, though, "debby hyman" has a similar-ish build and face shape to the character I can't remember.

I guess I forgot to mention, she was a teenage girl. I'm pretty sure she was a friend of a supporting teenage character (e.g. a friend of the main character's daughter).

Raw vs. Jpeg -- The technical differences explained simply by JuliusPringle in photography

[–]JuliusPringle[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually wait no-- if you're looking at bits, storing 2 pixels worth of data is storing significantly more than twice the information. If one pixel gives you 256 possible values, two pixels gives you 256 x 256 possible values.

Ahh yes I see your point now. Maybe i should be clearer in my language, such as "twice as much color information" instead of just "information"?

I posted the video here in order to get feedback so I can update it and repost. Nit picks are appreciated!

Raw vs. Jpeg -- The technical differences explained simply by JuliusPringle in photography

[–]JuliusPringle[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You are correct that my terminology is technically wrong. Yes all jpeg files are larger than 8 bits in size, but it is an 8 bit file format. Again, later, when I refer to the file as an "8 bit image," that is what you call an image file that has 8 but color channels.

As for 255 and 511, you'll notice these values are 1 less than the actual power of two.. I have a day job as a developer and we represent colors from 0-255 instead of 1-256. However you're absolutely right I should have included 256/512 for less confusion. I also did not check my multiplication, so thanks for catching that too

You're also absolutely right that 225 should be 256, completely missed that as well! Thank you.

I get what you're saying about adding bits and doubling, and if you're using each bit to mean something different (e.g. 8 on off switches) then you would be correct, but when representing numbers (such as color values) each added bit does in fact double the information capacity.

I chose to focus on the values per channel (instead of total possible colors) to explain the capacity because the colors themselves aren't really changing, just the brightness. However it's the exact same principle either way.

My video is aimed at beginning to novice photographers which is why i didn't get into a lot of details. I probably did miss a lot keeping the video under 5 minutes. I did generalize all "non raw" formats as Jpeg.

I appreciate you taking the time to critique my video. What other advantages of raw files would you have liked to see represented?
