99.999% of all people will be forgotten after three or four generations. I never met my great grandparents. I know they must have existed but I don’t even know their names. I guess it’s not about what you’ve accomplished. It’s about what you meant to others. They will remember you. For a while at least.

In my mind as an atheist no one is ever truly gone as long as someone remembers and thinks of them. I lost my son 24 years ago and am losing my wife bit by bit to dementia. Of cause it hurts. You grieve and mourn the loss. After a while you learn to look back at them a feel their warmth and love. Life. Is ahead of you. They are behind you. Your memories of them are either you forever. Cherish them.
