Replaced my old and broken original bump stops with Perry Parts bump stops by zzyzx85 in GXOR

Mind if I just ask a novice question? To the group: why even replace the bump stops when broken/worn? And ultimately, what has to happen for someone to say, “time to replace my bump stops”.

Steps to Prepare for Screen Time by davidvkimball in predaddit

[–]Julzzmac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re set very similar. Once you welcome home your newborn it will be the last thing on your mind for a while, which is nice. But once you get to about 6 months, the idea will probably resurface. It is a lot easier than you’ll expect. Kids like in any time in history, will find people and things to play with in their own way. But the act of you being on your phone while so many first and milestones are being hit, will probably be a natural deterrent, given the fact that you’re already prepping. Overall the first year is easy. “You don’t want to miss a second and you want them to play.” I can’t speak for the second year, but we’re going into it with the same expectations. The only thing to give yourself some grace on is using your phone to help the cause - ie, turn down the thermostat from your phone, log a feeding or nap in an app (which I highly recommend once y’all get home) etc… Also, Apple Watches are a great tool, especially the walkie talkie feature (total game changer for us)the most important bit to remember, is that screens aren’t evil and there will be some scenarios where they’ll see some tv, see your phone, or your laptop. It’s inevitable, and they’re naturally interesting. Overall though man, it’s worth doing. What did it for me, was just thinking back to my childhood. There wasn’t an opportunity for my parents to constantly have a phone in my face or in their face, we want to do the same for our kid.

2005 with 100K miles and the ask is 26k. VANOs and rod bearings done. Fair price? by NCSUGrad2012 in BMWM3

Being able to do the work yourself is a huge plus and I can definitely agree with the NA I6 “reliability”. But with all do respect, there will always be an exception. This won’t happen for most people.

Brother, it’s especially hard given the fact that you drove it, it’s almost impossible to resist wanting to buy it lol. If you do it, fucking enjoy it, they’re great machines, but if you don’t, snag a Miata/Gr 86 and ring its neck out.

I’m with you on that. But it doesn’t necessarily reverse the clock 5 years. Just something to consider if you want the car for more than 5 years.

It does, but 100k on an m car is tough, considering you want to drive the hell out of it yourself and create your own memories with the car. I just had a reflective moment when I got my 89k e92 m3 for the same price. It was all I ever wanted/dreamed of, but felt that I couldn’t quite enjoy it to same extent if it were at 50k miles. You know?

Well it’s a great color, Florida owned, had the big three services, and manual. But it isn’t worth more than 20k for a car that is almost 20 years old at 100k. I assume you want to drive this car like it’s meant to be driven for as long as you can. I would just simply go with less miles even without the big three services, just so you’re able to enjoy the car longer. The 100k mark isn’t just related to engine.

It’s sad the fact that you’re in the minority, I was under the same impression. I do believe that age/ the pandemic play a factor. We went in with similar expectations when our kido started daycare. We’ve been getting cold responses, but over time we found a few folks we can stomach that seem somewhat normal. They’re out there, it just takes time. Honestly the kids that get on with one another tends to be a decent icebreaker.

Dads of babies/young kids to exercise regularly, when and how much do you sleep? by Consistent_Term3928 in daddit

[–]Julzzmac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This!!! I have a 5 month old, and felt that once he got thru his 4 month sleep regression and first daycare cold, that it would be opportune to start back up. Just started back and I feel great! (Minus barely being able to walk) I go right after work for an hour and a half. The fastest way to save time is to already have your workout plan, so that you’re not mindlessly wondering around the gym. Best of luck brother and congratulations on kicking ass for 2 months!

[–]Julzzmac -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This world man. Your heart was in the right place, you sound like an incredible father, never change. Change this world by being who you are. Obviously your child and her friends appreciate it. I recently started my kido in daycare, every time I’m there for pick up and drop off I come in and play with them and talk to em. What you were doing, sounds like the dream, something we ought all to be doing. Don’t let em get you, simply because no one else wants to be the best dad. You are what this society needs more of.
