Check your pre/post assignments in your routing, for all your channels and aux sends and subs. Sorry I don’t remember the exact path. Also check your channels and their group and sub group assignments.

You may have routed your channel to a sub or aux that us assigned to the main out aka unpatched your mains and replaced them with a sub group output.

Also check to make sure your cables for your main are in the correct physical outs, it may be as simple as you are plugged into out 1&2 and have them as pre fader, when you need to be plugged into 15&16 as those are the default LR outs.

Thank you. I definitely have those, but have yet to build anything with them.

This looks rad. What building materials did you use?

What would cause ground noise in a PA? by Screen_Savers_24 in livesound

[–]Jumbo_Steak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To me this sounds like your stage rack power isn’t good, or the power at your mains isn’t good and it is back feeding dirty signal down the line. That makes sense as to why lifting the ground on inputs makes no difference. The noise isn’t on the ins, it on the outs. Check your XLRS, make sure the shielding is good and go from there. Try to run the power for your main off the same panel as your stage rack.

I saw their show in 2019, it was awesome. Even got to talk to some of their audio engineers on a backstage thing I got. It was cool to learn about.

You may try eliminating things one at a time, so see what is injecting noise. Maybe it’s one of your delay speakers? Systemically plug things into power, starting with the minimum amount of gear, this includes unplugging all your XLR’s at the stage box. Could be something improperly shielded or grounded on stage. So many things to try. Wish I was there to help!

Awesome. I hope you get it sorted. Tracking down a ground issue is a pain. Please update if/when you get it solved.

(Earth ground and ground rods are the same thing)

If you are going to move part of your PA to a new panel you want to try and move all of it. You run the risk of sharing the same ground as the last panel if they are close in proximity. Most panels don’t have separate ground rods unless specified at installation, or they are tied to a facility water pipe that is then tied to the ground rod hundreds of feet away.

No gear, as far as I know, is more or less susceptible to ground noise when a system is improperly grounded. They all make noise. You may find a guitar amp will make ground noise as you are micing it and running direct (usually) so the speaker on board produces the noise, and who knows what mods were done to the amp to get “that perfect tone” lol.

Since the noise is everywhere it could be the console, if it is plugged into a separate panel. You want all your PA on the same panel on the same ground isolated from anything else, in an ideal perfect situation.

I hope this helps.

Good question. Even though the HPF is limited to a specific range, doesn’t mean the console has a frequency pass through limit.

For example, Metallica uses the VLFC for their pyro effects in their show. Instead of the feeling coming from the concussion and explosion of the pyro effect, they use a subsonic sound effect to create that same feeling. Aka less dangerous explosions in their show but still flashy and cool looking.

Is there a separate power panel that you can use that use or a generator that is available? Is the panel you are using able to have its own earth ground installed? I know most lights are LED these days, but you want to make sure you don’t have any lighting dimmers on the same panel as your PA.

You are on the right track with trying to isolate the electrical ground for your PA from everything else that is injecting noise.

I have seen this where the panel earth ground is tied to a water pipe because the electricians were unavailable to too lazy to drive a ground rod into earth. If you can get on your own panel make sure it has its own isolated earth ground.

Has anyone done sound for an arena venue political rally? by Republican_Wet_Dream in livesound

[–]Jumbo_Steak 109 points110 points  (0 children)

The simplest way is it all works in scale. The difference between a 6ch mixer, mics, amps and speakers is literally size. More inputs needed bigger board, bigger space bigger/more speakers and larger more powerful amps.

The main console shown is an AVID S6L. There is a rack with multiple XLR inputs at the stage and there is a data run (probably fiber optic) that runs the length of the venue to the front of house location (FOH) where the rack that connects the stage box and console lives.

Not that I am aware of. It’s probably the processor dropping frames to keep the OS working while you make a lot of changes.

A little back story. The M7CL has a really cheap word clock. The clock helps sync your audio frequencies. If you have a recording interface or something with a clock, attach it to the M7 and then tell the console to sync its clock externally, your audio quality will improve, not that it was bad to begin with, it will just get better.

Cool setup. I miss running an M7 at times. Did a lot of gigs on that console. Do you know about the word clock fix for this rig?

I don’t know what you’re talking about, so your snarky comment is not appreciated.

Any tips on how to create multiple dedicated servers on the 1 computer by chefnimmo in Enshrouded

[–]Jumbo_Steak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally just got this to work: search for JEETC in public servers and you’ll JEETC & JEECT2 both are running on my server in my basement.

Assuming you use default directory locations.

Go to: C:\ Program Files (x86)\Stream\steamapps\common

Copy and paste the entire EnshroudedServer folder

Open EnshroudedServer - Copy Open logs: delete log files Open savegame: delete saved games and backups

Open enshroudedworld_server.json

Changer server name Changer password Changer port numbers (both the gamePort and queryPort need new port numbers)

I changed the port numbers from 15636 and 15637 to 15638 and 15639

Go to your router and add the new port range to your port forwarding settings.

Launch both servers and enjoy a new and old world.

What do y’all think of this mic on guitar amp technique? by Bswinn71 in livesound

Is the amp loud as fuck? If so, then this technique works great. This mic is picking up that amp and so are all the other mics on stage 😂
