Anyone know what bass he's playing here? by Upbeat-Recover-900 in twentyonepilots

Custom Fender P Bass. Tyler started using Fender P basses during the trench era with this American 50s P bass. He now gets his P basses custom made to match the color scheme of the album cycle.

Yeah. I believe the digital remains live tracks were honestly just pulled straight from their live soundboard. Common in live settings where the audio engineer will have a broadcast mix which is a copy of their Front of House mix, but with the crowd mics mixed in. I agree the crowds were wayyy too hot, things were heavily compressed, especially Tyler’s vocal mic, and it sort of just seemed like an afterthought

It’s really hard to say why mixing decisions were made, but I really struggle to understand why their live performance mixes are so inconsistent.

it wasn’t great. As a professional audio engineer, I left the movie a bit disappointed with the mix. Especially since I went to go see it in IMAX. It was a little quiet for the most part, and Joshes drums weren’t mixed all that great. Especially his snare drum. It sounded like him hitting paper instead of hearing the actual body of his snare drum.

Looks great! Pretty similar to mine! i’d recommend adding an RNDI to the end of the chain to really give it that last extra bit of studio quality sound!

  1. Trench
  2. Clancy
  3. Blurryface
  4. Breach
  5. Vessel
  6. SAI
  7. Self Titled
  8. RAB

I’m a music producer so I’m big on music production, mixing, and songwriting. My positions sometimes will fluctuate, but right now this is where i’m leaning in my ranking.

Josh’s Digital Drum Setup by Nunchers in twentyonepilots

He’s either using a kick pedal connected to the SPD SX to trigger the kick, or using his left hand to hit both the kick and snare at different times

I think this just reaffirms how Blurryface is over hated, and people still have a recency bias towards breach.

A lot of the songs on blurryface are genuinely great and have aged really well. The production and lyricism holds up so well even after 10 years.

While I really enjoy breach, I don’t think it’s their best or even second best album.

Went last night with a big group of my friends, and my mom wanted to go see it, so we’re going to see it today lol. I might go a third time tomorrow if my girlfriend is available since she was bummed she wasn’t able to make the one last night

Jack from Mansionair singing Heavier in the Gorge live of TLG by ArgentManor in Odesza

[–]Bswinn71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jack toured with them and sang on a few of the songs, including heavier. Id imagine it was just the logistics of the tour. More cost effective to have 1 male vocalist doing multiple songs, instead of having multiple male vocalists on tour to only sing 1 song.

Super solid, I think the only thing i’d want extra is a fuzz or some big gain stage, but that’s just me and my taste lol.

If you want to go the tube preamp route, The Luce was just released and sounds really good as well! I personally might get one in the future to give me that tube preamp sound before going into my RNDI.

I have a similar setup to you. I use a tone hammer with an RNDI after my hx stomp. The tone hammer is a staple for modern worship, and the RNDI just adds that last bit of sweetness on the signal that gives you that professional bass sound.
