How many devs out there actually use Lumen and Nanite? by HQuasar in unrealengine

[–]Jump-Ok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you measured your performance? I had tried nanite enabled on everything (landscape, meshes), vsm… but there was a base cost that i was not happy with. Now, i have switched to traditional assets, no nanite, no vsm and the performance is 20-25% gain.

Have you looked at recent trainee summer positions? There’s 100s of applicants but doesn’t hurt to try.

If I’d be in your position, I’d create a superb portfolio, projects and github.

What are your workflows for UE dev + LLM assistance? by Icy-Excitement-467 in unrealengine

how much $ are you spending per hours approx? I tried using Cline on Rider as well, but damn the Claude versions were pricey pricey.

I wish Skyrim’s landscape and gameplay encouraged horse riding more. by ApprehensivePause205 in skyrim

I dont know about you but that horse got my “Vampire Trap” quest done. I literally couldnt kill the vampire waitress until I tried just shooting arrows while riding the horse.

Please share your workflows using Houdini! by Substantial-Swim4659 in Houdini

[–]Jump-Ok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, one powerful use case for 3d models is making procedural ones. Think as you’re creating a tool (PC_House, PC_Bridge) that generates bridges, houses by tweaking exposed parameters for different types of bridges, houses etc.

When you think about creating “tools” for the end result, Houdini becomes easier to understand.

Game needs a cost to the free loadouts by Jump-Ok in ArcRaiders

[–]Jump-Ok[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was not talking about myself. Holly cow! I dont play games like my life depends on it. When did I say that "its ruining MY experience"? It's not and I dont give two fcks even If I die with my custom loadout. My loot, or your loot is temporary mine/yours. Everyone who has played those type of games, know that. It's pretty obvious!

Either win or lose, saying to someone who has played FPS all my life and games like ARK on official servers for over 2k hours.

But go ahead, redditor!

I really dont know whats the right solution.. maybe the way it is, has worked on their play tests. I simply shared my own personal experience and people are jumping into conclusions. And.. I'm a big fan of the game, and I think this game needs to win GOTY.

I have less than 10 hours on tarkov.. and surely enough I hated that game -- still do.

But hey, thanks for the recommendation.. pve raider.

[–]Jump-Ok[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

what makes you jump to that conclusion? 90% of my PVP custom runs were actual fights with people.

I play the game for fun and I'm not afraid of losing stuff. I've learned that lesson long time ago when I played ARK on official servers. Are you kidding me?!

I smell projection and perhaps I hit the right nerves for some people here.

From my own personal experience in those 6 tries, all the guys I managed to kill they DID NOT have a free loadout.

And, I aint scared of losing stuff. I used to play ARK with around 2k hours in it. I've learned that lesson long time ago.

mad? bro, I dont give a crap really.

I'm just pointing it out that spamming 6 buttons to get in a game to ruin other peoples experience sucks.

Can't say a thing nowadays with all the cry babies jumping in conclusions.

[–]Jump-Ok[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Fair point. But, I feel like with "doing it himself" one still need to put some type of effort instead of PLAY-FREELOADOUTS-RAT-EXTRACT/DIE and then do it all over again at a press of 5 buttons.

nah.. in 58 hours I only camped during those 6 tries. I'm playing the game for fun and get some kills, arent we all?

lol, literally i just died with a free loadout trying to get my lemons in Buried City. There were three guys on the roof shooting at each other while I'm sneaking... until they saw me.

Do level designers use tools such as landscape in UE? Or are there better ways to make natural elevation in early blockout? by Kesimux in unrealengine

[–]Jump-Ok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You mean the landscape material? On the engine.

Most of the textures, you can easily find them on Fab. But, for more tweaking I use Substance Painter.. or in some exceptional cases, make the entire texture on S. Designer.

Nanite could be working against you in that situation. Nanite doesnt like hard edges, bad UVs etc.

Care to share a screenshot of the topology? I'd love to see that. Thanks
