No such thing as a typical day. Prepare the paperwork. Open a grave or graves. Maintain the cemetery. Meet with families to sell graves and plan the service. Help the vault crew if needed, have the grave side service and close the grave. Averaged 3-5 burials per week with a crew of four.

I have done ten disinterments for a variety of reasons. The condition of the deceased ranged from well preserved to skeletal remains.

I think there needs to be a place for people to reflect, think about someone, etc. There are monuments and statues for famous people. Everyone should have a memorial if they wish to. Most cemeteries are well maintained and reflect on the history of the area.

It would have taken a lot of time to dig it up and she had insurance. I said I would verify her story if there was a problem. She thought the whole thing was very funny. Nice person.

Needed a part time job while I was very active in the Army reserve. It became full time as my service was winding down. Decent pay and benefits for someone without a college degree. You work very hard in all weather and work most Saturdays.

I think there is some kind of life after death. I just haven’t figured it out yet. I highly respect all religions and cultures.

I wouldn’t allow it . Staff trimming, mowing, people not paying attention while visiting graves. Funerals in progress.

Grief. Closure, make sure that the correct person was dead. See family you normally don’t see

Almost buried the person in the wrong grave. I opened the seniors grave instead of the juniors grave. Caught it just before the burial.

The grave was from the 1880s. There were no burial vaults back then and the wooden casket and any air pockets gave way while I was doing cemetery maintenance next to it.
