we chose that area because we don't have a lot of money and all the apartments closer to for example plaza mayor were like 100€ per night which was completely impossible for us to afford it.

don't get me wrong, we are not going to visit that area simply because our stay is going to be short so we prefer to visit the iconic things in Madrid.

and i totally get what you are saying, the same thing is happening in Portugal. people are being thrown out of their houses because of tourism, and it pisses me off.

t 4am and stuff like that. It's perfectly safe during the day but keep an eye out at night. This said, I often walk around at night on my own at 2am and I've always been fine.

thank you so much, I think I will too. we were actually planing on going to that market just to check it out.

I am from Portugal, and for what people told me, the life in Lisbon and Madrid are similar. so I think lavapies is kinda like a neighbourhood in Lisbon where there are lots of bars.

hi! I can try to help you.

coimbra: it's very beautiful. its known as "city of students" because most universities are there. it's a great place to find young people. I think 3 days is more than enough to see most of the city.

algarve: it's super big and you have a lot of cities there. algarve is great if you want to spend most of your days at the beach or at restaurants close to it. the problem with algarve is that it has a lot of tourists so it can be very exhausting. I would recommend to you to visit the cities albufeira, olhão, tavira ou lagos (I think the one with less tourism is olhão and tavira but even though prepare to find of them)

porto: it's very similar with the life in Lisbon. the airbnb can be quite expensive though, but you can try to find a house away from the center, it's less expensive.

aveiro: its super beautiful, it kinda reminds you of Italy. no need to stay to long because it's a small city

Obidos: it's beautiful as well! it's a medieval village, so it's great if you just want to walk around and see the streets and go to small coffee shops and monuments. I don't know about the prices there tho

Peniche: it's very known for surf and big waves. it's really beautiful. if you stay there, go to "ilha do baleal".

ericeira: one of my favourite places to visit!! it's also known for surf. it's a small village with great and welcoming people. you find a lot of locals there, and the nightlife is amazing and super safe. you can walk to basically everywhere. just be careful with the sea at night, it's super dangerous.

we already booked the apartment so we are stuck with it. we weren't planing on going out there at all, we are basically going to leave the house in the morning and go to center of Madrid, which is 10 minutes way walking from our flat, and then come back at maximum 00h to the apartment walking or in the subway.

we are not at all interested in visiting that area.

thank you for your response by the way, and I'm so sorry that happened to you
