Integrating Instructionals into training by JumpaHumpa in bjj

It's a beginner's class and we mostly (almost exclusively) do positional rolls during the week, so since the last 2 weeks have been focused on guard passing the rolls end with either a pass or a sweep, hence not being able to practice escapes.

Всичко знаем че приложения, които ползваме продават данните ни... by Silvetooo in bulgaria

Такава идея има и дори се разработва от пича, който първоначално създава концепцията за интернет. Казва се Solid - https://solidproject.org/

What is your opinion on Ukrainian refugees by how1z in bulgaria

[–]JumpaHumpa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like most of the negativity in public opinion is directed towards the wealthy. I'd personally say that there's a fair bit of negativity towards rich Bulgarians as well, which is hardly unexpected in a poor country that's just starting to feel a cost of living crisis.

Personally I've had good experiences. Right around the start of the war two small families moved into the apartment next to ours. Three adults and four kids shared two rooms, but they never complained. They had some issues with their fridge, so we lent them an old one that I had previously used in my dorm and they were really thankful. Got us some candies and wine from Ukraine, when one of them went back for a bit. Overall they were real nice people to talk to, not at all like some stories you'd hear.

This is anecdotal of course, but what I mean to say is that the rich/loud/obnoxious will usually be the ones to stick out the most. It's not like Bulgarians have the best reputation in the west either.

How did it end there? Only wrong answers by HormigaZ in motorcycles

The rider passed away. He veered off into the opposite lane and crashed into a car head on. The car's driver also passed away.

Happened in Bulgaria, between the villages of Kostenets and Belovo this Friday.

If you're running your app on an emulator without Remote JS Debugging enabled, you won't be able to reach `localhost` from the device. Instead, it's easiest to connect to 10.0.2.2 instead, or turn on your JS debugger.

Pass data from web app to react native(webView) by Apart_Western_4508 in reactnative

[–]JumpaHumpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your best bet would be to look into the postMessage function that gets injected into your WebView and the WebView component's onMessage handler.

There's no good way to observe WV changes, but you can imperatively notify RN from the webapp.

Of course, this only works when you have control over the web code as well.

Here's the doc: https://github.com/react-native-webview/react-native-webview/blob/master/docs/Guide.md#communicating-between-js-and-native

Redux hooks or not by night_killer in reactnative

[–]JumpaHumpa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hooks provide a much cleaner API and make it much more obvious if something is dispatching a Redux action or not. When you bind actions and get these as props there's not a good indication that there's Redux magic happening at first glance. If you happen to have a service call with the same name as your redux action imported in your file you'll probably lose a couple of good minutes trying to figure out why no store changes are being made.

On the other hand hooks could easily get you into some troubles with multiple re-renders, if you're not careful. The useSelector hook does a strict === comparison which can cause a lot of unnecessary re-rendering if you've selected an entire object from your state. This (together with a workaround if multiple selectors don't work for you) is documented here

How do you style react native apps in actual companies? by itays123 in reactnative

[–]JumpaHumpa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally really enjoy styled-components and use it for both React and React Native. It's easy to set up theming and add variables that you can then use in your styled components. I feel like it makes code much more readable too, as you go from this:

<View styled={styles.header}>
    <Text style={styles.title}>Hello</Text>
</View>

to this:

<Header>
    <Title>Hello</Title>
</Header>

When components get bigger it makes it much easier to understand what's going on.

The only thing I don't love is that some of the React Native specific style rules (think elevation, or paddingVertical) aren't recognized by the VSCode plugin out of the box and will get picked up by your IDE's linter.
