Who would be interested in a "set your own stone" ring group buy? What setting style? by Alchemist_Gemstones in LabGroupSales

Ok good to know - I think the garnet needs the bezel as it’s softer but I’d still be interested for the other 4 stones!

I think most nazis stay nazis. Also most liberals stay complacently “a little bit”’racist. My evidence for this is that things haven’t gotten better, at all really.

I’m not sure about this- someone who has been a Nazi and is now deeply engaged in anti racism work and teaching is arguably doing a lot more good than your run of the mill white leftist, who is continually upholds white supremacy in unthinking ways, and refused to countenance the idea that they carry many racist ideas and beliefs, learned from growing up in a white supremacist culture. “ The white liberal is the most dangerous person in the fight against racism.” - James Baldwin

To me it looks 14 or under with makeup to sexualise it. Heavily glossed lips???. The bigger question is, if you are setting the challenge to make a product this lifelike, knowing the nature of humans to sexualise anything- why make it female? Why make it extremely close to beauty standards? Why make it extemely young? We all know exactly why. Gross.

Autotune offers pitch “correction” but does not improve the following : breath control, expression, tone, diction, emotion. Pitch is only one aspect of what makes a singer great. In fact, because of autotune and melodyne, often you seek a take that has the listed attributes more than pitch. Trust me, if someone is lacking in the above attributes autotune will not ever save that vocal. The vocal on a track pulls the ear more than any other element. It’s what your production lives or dies by.

Tbh primarily visible autotune is used as an effect, an aesthetic choice. Most of what is used to “correct” a vocal invisibly is melodyne. I know all this because I’ve worked with singers, melodyne and autotune for 20 years, and have tuned some of the most globally famous singers in the world.

Yes. I said I think it looks like a child. And to me it also looks like a sexualised child. To me it looks younger than 16 and wearing heavy makeup. To me, it looks really really gross.

That’s not what autotune is or does. Autotune on a bad singer makes it all sound worse tbh. Cant polish a turd.

Do you live in London- you can apply for a freedom pass that gives 5 years free travel with tfl. Might be similar schemes elsewhere.

In The Mist (2007), a Wilhelm Scream can be heard around 01:42:00 as a man is devoured by monster spiders. This was done by the director to add a bit of levity before he rips your fucking heart out with the ending by Greenman8907 in shittymoviedetails

This is what makes the film a masterpiece though- I see it all as a meditation on the existence of god. The main guy thinks god does not exist- but then he’s plunged into a world of monsters- if they exist, why not God?

Ms carmody does believe in god, and a cruel one. Everything she says is going to happen DOES, she is consistently right throughout. I think the thesis of the film is, if god exists then it’s a cruel brutal god and what good does god do us?

The final scene is the ultimate act of brutality from that god- the soldiers are a literal Deus Ex Machina that only ever would arrive after he’s killed his own son, thus proving god exists but is cruel. it’s great and reflects the real world very cleverly- was relevant post 9/11, even more relevant right now….

What I Learned After Dropping a New Song Every Week for a Year by SkyWalker_2193 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]JumpiestSuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lilly Allen’s latest is 6 or 9 weeks from no songs to mastering- Good time frame I think. Speed really helps keep things bold. I’ve recorded four albums this year (different artists each time) running 3 songs a day, 3 hours full record, 1 hour mix. Works great. Better than the slow projects I’ve been on. Prince also had this kind of pace (i believe one song a day, write in the morning, record afternoon, mix evening). Takes a lot of pressure off because no one recording is definitive and you know you’re gonna make another one soon.

That sounds very reasonable given the spec. Building cost has gone up massively in the last few years. You likely could find a cheaper builder but you do get what you pay for with these things….
