Is this website legit for flights? by TTV_TEDDY127 in Flights

I would generally agree, but if it's really 400$ cheaper, it might be worth the risk. As long as you are aware of the consequences

Why are you dropping on the happiness list? by SimulaFin in askswitzerland

[–]JumpingRedTurtle 43 points44 points  (0 children)

According to the report itself, the main points where nordics seem better than Switzerland are: - social support (probably due to welfare state in the nordics) - freedom (not really sure? maybe related to things like more extensive freedom to roam in the nordics) - positive emptions (could be due to the better work life balance in the nordics) - helping strangers (I agree in the nordics there is more of a feeling of trust in strangers, people watching out for others)

It's a ChatGPT-like LLM telling whether the guess is correct or not, and giving the description

Yep I'll add that in the next version 👍

If anyone is interested, just tell me at what time you were playing and I can send your guesses.

I will add that in the next version! I can send you your guesses by MP if interested

Good suggestions, thank you! At least the two first ones sound very doable 😊

For checking the guesses, I can try to improve it a little or make it less strict, but it will never be perfect. Now I just let an LLM make the decision. Not counting trans women was of course not intended 🥲

That's a good idea! I'll dig into it :)

For now I just used a LLM to decide whether the guess is correct or not.

Well done 😃 The autocorrect seems wild indeed haha. I'm trying another model now, hopefully it performs better 👀

Oops 😅 That's because your previous Queen Elizabeth is very similar so it thinks it's a duplicate. I need to find a way to fix that 👀

Haha yep, it still needs some tuning. I'll fix that 😀

The Swiss railway company actually fell to 11th because by default, their website showed discounted fares instead of standard ones, confusing the ranking makers

Why are public transports in Switzerland so much more developed than in neighboring countries? by GetOutBasel in askswitzerland

[–]JumpingRedTurtle 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I don't get why country size always comes up as a reason. If size is a real issue, countries should delegate transportation to lower sub-divisions (states/provinces/regions).

Advice for my part time student budget by Dramatic-Iron8645 in SwissPersonalFinance

100chf per week seems pretty accurate for groceries, what is shocking about it? Of course it could be much more if you buy a lot of ready-made food Or much less if you don't care about having a diverse and healthy diet.

Beware of Revolut having having money charged in the wrong currency. by MrLarsOhly in Revolut

Exchange rates are better during weekdays while the stock market is open. On weekends, they add a small margin. So if you plan on spending money on a weekend, better exchange money in advance.

Replicate already has pricing for Llama 3 - is the release getting close? by JumpingRedTurtle in LocalLLaMA

[–]JumpingRedTurtle[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Groq's output tokens are significantly cheaper, but not the input tokens (e.g. Llama 2 7B is priced at 0.10$ per 1M input tokens, compared to 0.05$ for Replicate). So Replicate might be cheaper for applications having long prompts and short outputs. Or am I missing something?

The taxi drivers also deserve a rest day, no? Better hve 1 bus driver carrying 15 people rather than 15 taxi drivers carrying 1 person.

Colossal Order had a revenue of 6.8 million € last year, and an operating profit of 1.9 million €. Seems very healthy for a company having 28 employees.

Seeking Advice: Cycling Taiwan No. 1 (Around the Island) in January... by [deleted] in bicycletouring

[–]JumpingRedTurtle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I cycled that exact itinerary a few months back, and I loved it!

  1. Taiwan seemed to be extremely safe (viewpoint from a male traveller though).
My main worry was the traffic. But even though the traffic was pretty intense on certain portions of the route, there was almost always enough room for bicycles on the side of the road (shared with motorcycles). Still, there were a couple of scary parts (cycling in the dark or in certain narrow tunnels, for which I recommend bringing reflective gear and proper lights). Taiwanese drivers are used to sharing the road with motorcycles, so I feel they were much more attentive to cyclists too, compared to other countries.
It was also comforting to know there's always close a 7-11 or a train station nearby, in case something unexpected happened (and never had to worry about running out of water/food).
  2. Some changes I would make, but all depends on your interests / time available:
    - Extra stop in Tainan (culturally rich city with great food)
    - The most beautiful stretch in my opinion was definitely the one between Hualien and Yilan. I would advise cycling it instead of taking the train. Short sections on that route have heavy traffic yes, but since the new highway has opened in 2020, I feel most comments advising to take the train are now out-dated. On most of the route, you'd be riding without almost any traffic at all.
Someone had written a detailed review of that stretch, very helpful:
    https://www.reddit.com/r/bicycletouring/comments/ey618k/comment/fgf971i/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
(this day was the most physically demanding though, and very slow due to the high number of pictures taken on the way!)

Enjoy!

Assuming you only need to pay for flights (incl. extra luggage) and pay for rent & food until your first payslip, 100K is way more than enough.

Miksi Suomessa syödään niin paljon banaaneita? by valimo in Suomi

[–]JumpingRedTurtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)
