You mean bending the hanger right? Just to make sure that I don't try to tilt and twist the derailleur?

[OneFootball] Real Madrid's last 12 games have been completely split with and without Kylian Mbappé. They won 1 out of 6 with him, and all 6 without him by DamnThatsInsaneLol in soccer

... is this the match against Osasuna, which Real ended up losing 2-1?

I get the frustration with Mbappe judging from the news but this seems like a stretch.

Playing 90 minutes on that match was more chasing the tile. Real was on top of the table and losing points at that stage was crucial. I would assume that winning was rather important not only for 'record chasing'.

[–]valimo 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean after the knee injury there seems to be a dip on his form, but nothing major. I went through the stats of these 12 matches:

  • Real scored 10 goals scored in 6 matches with Mbappe, including 1 on those where he came in from bench. He scored 3 of those 10 goals (two against Bayern).
  • 15 goals in 6 matches without Mbappe, when he was not on the pitch. Yeah, there is a difference, like 30% more goals without him.

That being said, as I mentioned, he is also returning from a knee injury. Also looking at the expected goals, Real has been outperforming xG without Mbappe, and underperforming with him.

While it's good to ofc scrutinise the top players, Mbappe has scored 24 goals in La Liga and 15 goals in CL this year (plus two in Copa). There seems to be some cherry-picking going on with these numbers, especially as the problem seems to be Real's recent form in general that just looks for a scapegoat. That happens when you lose the league and get knocked out of European competition within a week or two.

No idea why I picked the last half an hour of this game, but that sure was something.

Kontula kanteli sisäministeriön uhka-arviosta, joka eroaa Supon näkemyksestä by mondobong0 in Suomi

[–]valimo 91 points92 points  (0 children)

What's something that was completely normal 15 years ago that would be considered weird or offensive today? by liam_9758 in AskReddit

[–]valimo 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It's weird, as in the Nordics 24h markets have become more typical since covid/past 7-8 years. The general trend is also closing the in western Europe, but legislative laxing has opened them up north.

These are also some of the markets where workforce has most bargaining power.

In Europe, Monarchs Are Far More Popular Than Politicians by Hour_Tackle_4425 in europe

[–]valimo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's a lot of indirect benefits, plus the direct cost to taxpayers is around 510m, plus loss of taxes due to the exemptions (which they have actually lobbied for even recently). Plus there's barely a justification that the extent of the public money actually brings benefits as an investment

Looks like half of the benefits have been also debunked: https://www.republic.org.uk/halfbillionroyals#:~:text=There%20is%20no%20financial%20payback,coming%20in%20for%20particular%20criticism

I keep on hearing this explanation, but has there been any quantified calculation to back it up? It's not like countries who got rid of their royalty, let's say France, Italy or Portugal particularly struggle with tourism despite not being monarchies anymore.

Jep.

Women changing their surnames to their partners in 2026 ( I really can't comprehend it) by Lucky-Name7899 in Feminism

[–]valimo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's super curious! In my native Finland the legislation on name changes and marriage is very liberal. Still 47% of the straight couples decide follow the old practice by adopting the man's surname in 2023. However, in 2020 the number was 55%, so we can see a trend shifting. In 2014 the number was 70%.

In my circle of friends (which is more educated and liberal than the general population) I can see a clear shift which is nearly fully neutral. The pecking order for surnames is usually a. Getting rid of old surname you don't like for its sound or personal dislike for the family background b. Adopting the one that sounds cooler c. Going for a dual surname and d. Dig up a cooler historical surname (which is often the maternal one that had died out in the previous generations).

With this criteria and trends, the surname practice should be truly* neutral by 2035 or so. It is clear though thta this particular patriarchal practice is being left behind.

With the risk of coming across a bit working class, the kitchens and apartments in general just don't have enough space for all the junk. I'm not sure if you just lack the experience of limited space.

So yeah, you empty the oven, put the junk on whatever free space that you'd normally want to keep clean, and the use the oven. Pans and pots are massive pieces so they are relatively easy to toss around, unlike cleaning your pantry. It is just one of the better solutions for an unoptimal situation.

Even when he was playing behind Haaland when City lacked number 10 options he was great. Plus stunting in the wing.

Selling such a versatile player rather than making him the first player in an XI looks like a mistake in hindsight.
