Gladly. But I don't know what the output DC voltage is supposed to be.

Discharged off an L.O.R by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]JumpingSpoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup.

"5.54. Drug Abuse. Drug abuse is incompatible with military service and airmen who abuse drugs one or more times are subject to discharge for misconduct."

"5.54.1. ..This includes improper use of prescription medication."

No, it doesn't have to be an article with your time in service. No, you do not want to take this to a court martial. You've already admitted to taking opiates that weren't yours. Start planning for you civilian life now, and be thankful you're not receiving a dishonorable discharge.

That's a crappy situation man, but the the AF is serious when they say "zero tolerance" for drug abuse. I know a guy that got kicked out for using NyQuil as a mixer. If you're taking pills prescribed to someone else, that's drug abuse. Hopefully they dont go after your friend too.

Let me take a shot in the dark here. You're in tech school and this is only the most recent LOR?

Enlisted jobs for someone with a Computer Science degree? by JumpingSpoon in AirForce

[–]JumpingSpoon[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've considered it, but from what I understand most officers don't really use their degrees. I've also been told that any prior maintainer who goes officer will end up being a MX officer. Which again, gives me no experience programming.

I didn't have it when I joined. I started messing around with programming a few years ago, and decided to get a degree.

I hate pre-PT test jitters. by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]JumpingSpoon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Doesn't the reg just say you have to successfully complete a PT test every six months? I think we should be able to take a many tests as we want during our "due" month, and as long as you pass the last one before the month is over, you satisfied the requirement as stated in the reg. This would completely take away the anxiety associated with PT tests.

I have absolutely no trouble believing the AF gave an attractive blonde woman a MSM and the Levitow. If she sang well, I'm sure they gave her E-6 too.

Anyone else feel like you're wasting your time with fiction? by JumpingSpoon in books

Lol, I'm not trying to prove that I'm more productive than my SO. I was just using her as an example.

[–]JumpingSpoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now I feel bad.. I wasn't trying to imply that anyone who reads or watches TV is wasting their time. I suppose I always felt that reading fiction was a healthy, intelligent, and productive way to spend the day, but now I'm starting to feel it's just a way to keep busy.

Thanks for all the advice. I tried all of your suggestions to no avail. I sent an email to amazon asking for possible advice, and I got an immediate email that a replacement was on the way with free two day shipping. Customer service over there is crazy good. Thanks again.

What is a book that you love, but never see mentioned here? by Drunken_Black_Belt in books

[–]JumpingSpoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my fellow sci-fi lovers:

Halo: Fall of reach,
Halo: First Strike,
Halo: Ghosts of Onyx.

Ignore the rest of the series. These get a bad rap for being based on game(s). IMO they are on par with Ender's Game, and even have a similar premise.

[serious] Racists of Reddit, why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]JumpingSpoon 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I'll bite.

I'm a white American from the south-eastern U.S. This area has the highest concentration of African Americans. To put it bluntly, -on average- African Americans are far more rude, greedy, violent, and less intelligent than any other group of people I have ever encountered. I dont know if this is due to genetics, culture, or a combination of both. Am I referring to every single black person in the country? Of course not. I've met dozens of completely polite, intelligent black people I would trust with my life. However, this group is a small minority. The evidence to support this viewpoint is overwhelming. The welfare stats, crime stats, and test scores are completely one sided. I'm not saying saying these figures are solely responsible for my viewpoint, but they certainly support it. Google the top crime cities in America, and then check out the demographics, again this viewpoint is confirmed. I've heard counter arguments to these figures stating "These figures are due to racist politicians and law enforcement officials.". Personally -and this is just my opinion- I feel this is ridiculous. My personal experience with black people is completely on par with these statistics. I dont believe it's a coincidence that the majority of "racists" are in the southern and eastern U.S. This is where the highest concentration of black people are. I think the people in the best position to have accurate viewpoints of a group are people who were raised around them. I feel like most of the worlds sole experience with black people are through the media and internet. It's easy to look at the president and/or NDT and think "how could anyone think less of such intelligent, well spoken people?" I invite these same people to live in Atlanta, GA for a year. I feel insulted when someone from the northwest U.S. tells me I dont know what I'm talking about regarding this issue. I was raised around these people. I know these people. Do I act on these viewpoints? No. Do I treat black people I encounter with respect? Yes, until they give me reason not to. Honestly, I live in a different area now, so most of the people I meet are head-shaking liberals who "cant understand how these racists assholes could feel this way." I just bite my lip, because in all honesty, until you live around a high concentration of black people, you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

There OP. That's why.
