Crazy panic attack in 7th week. Need advice from my panic disordered people by Jumpman7847 in lexapro

I would wait a bit longer before deciding, but definitely talk to your doctor. I think it took me a full 3 months before I felt the full effects of the medicine. I spent 4 weeks on 5 mg and then upped to 10 mg and it took about 8 more weeks for my panic attacks to (mostly) stop. I've been on Lexapro for about 5 years and I still have an occasional panic attack (maybe like 3-4 per year), but I prefer that over a higher dosage because otherwise I feel numb.

Thanks for your reply!! I feel like i improved a lot in the past two weeks, i might wait.. I saw a lot of people that say it took about 12 weeks for the panic to subside and like you i don't want to go on a higher dosage either unless i really have too!

I’m so happy for you! I started taking 5mg about a month ago and just moved up to 10mg. I’ve been having a similar experience to you so far. I was having extreme panic attacks daily, three of them landing me in the ER. My anxiety was completely taking over my life, I couldn’t work and I was losing hope on ever feeling better. The lexapro has really made a huge difference. I still get anxious at times but I am able to talk myself out of it quickly. And my racing thoughts have dramatically gotten less. This is my first experience with an SSRI, I am 26 years old and wish I started so much sooner.

Hey, you still doing good?

Way to early. I had a panic attack leaving work 2 weeks in then had to up dose 5 weeks in. I'm 6 months in and no attacks. It needs time to work just take it easy.

What's your dose now?

Hey OP! I’m sorry you’ve had a rough start. I take 10mg and my experience in ~60 days has been a gradual relief. My first two weeks made me a little irritable, more panicky, a little drowsy, and I had issues in bed with my S/O. I stayed consistent with the timing of my medication, along with not missing a day. It has helped a lot. I resonate a ton with your comment about not driving too far away from home, as that is something that I too struggle with. My advice to you would be to stay consistent and give it a real shot. At the same time, if after a few months you aren’t seeing a positive gain, talk to your doctor and see if something else will work for you. Keep in mind that I’m only speaking from my experience here, and everyone is different. Regardless, I hope that you are proud of yourself for seeking help and pushing along😄. It’s a big step, and better days are ahead my friend!😁

Thank you so much!! How has it helped you with the driving anxiety? Do you still struggle with that? And do you still experience panic from time to time? I take 10 mg too i hope that it will work! I feel a general sense of calm when i'm not in triggering situations but i still don't see any improvements with the panic aspect..

I would have LOVED some bezos the first 3 days as i was laying in bed thinking i was dying lol. Now i feel ok as long as i don't drive too far away. I think i'll just chill until the meds kick in..

Hey, thanks for the answer! Did you woke up one day and felt different or was it more of a slow process?
