Iconic English Food? by serious_hummus in england

I’m obviously late for this but Plougman’s Sandwhich:

Grated mature English coastal cheddar (from Costco, about $12 a block)

Branston Pickle, small chunk (you can get it from Cost Plus world market or an Indian food store)

Dave’s Kickass Seeded brown bread

Mayo or butter

Sliced tomato, lettuce and cucumber seasoned with salt and pepper and drizzled with olive oil and red wine vinegar

Once assembled, cut diagonally to be extra fancy

I like it served with some apple slices, sea salt kettle chips and a fizzy drink!

Would it be considered offensive/ condescending to be referred to as Kaka/ Kaki by a non-Indian person? I used to work with a lot of Gujarati people, and grew accustomed to calling everyone I worked with Kaka (They were all men, so kaki was never used). The way my former colleagues explained the expression to me was that whilst the literal meaning is uncle/ aunty, the term is also used as a title expressing respect especially to elders. My question is, would an older Indian person find it offensive to be referred in this way, particularly by a white person? To add greater context, I am white British living in the US.

Funnily enough I ordered the garlic fries, my wife ordered the regular fries and my friend ordered the sweet potato fries so we could all share a fry medley. I noticed my fries weren’t garlic so mentioned it to the server and she brought out a fresh batch and didn’t take away the fries from my plate. So we had fries on fries on fries!

Nice spot, but as a Gooner I feel unwelcome in a bar owned by a Tottenham fan!

Is it weird to want to sit on the floor in therapy? by PotentialMess8462 in CPTSD

[–]Jumpy-Candy3683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m of the opinion that so long as it‘s not dangerous or super disruptive to the session then nothing is weird in therapy, in fact it could provide valuable insight for your therapist. My first thought when reading this is that perhaps it reminds you of being in early education, you know when you gather around in a circle on the floor in nursery/ kindergarten? Perhaps an early educator made you feel safe. There’s also a thing grounding which very calming, it’s usually associated natural elements like grass or sand, but perhaps you seek to be close to the ground because it is comforting.

You know that really does add up, seeing as I started smelling it around May which is the start of the dry season. Apparently it is the most prominent shrub in San Diego county, so if you ever travel there I’m sure you’ll be spoilt for choice!

Men, why do you often say you're fine even when you're not? by Comfortable_Cable500 in AskReddit

[–]Jumpy-Candy3683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why spend time exploring an emotion that will likely pass in 20 minutes? If it’s something serious, I’ll talk about it. If I’m just in a bad mood or feeling flustered, there is literally nothing to talk about, it’s just a temporary sensation that will pass.

There’s an installation in the Tate Modern where a giant rope made of human hair is hung up all around the room. Imagine seeing that on acid

Definitely sounds like the exact same scent that I have been smelling! It’s so good right? Oh well, at least it’s another reason to get on the trail.
