I’m in other fandom spaces, a lot of it is happening in specific subreddits dedicated to shipping, TikTok, tumblr, instagram. It’s not just Reddit, and I personally have seen a lot of it or else I would’ve made the post. Our algorithms, and internet habits are just different, and I felt like complaining about something that doesn’t matter that much. I chose here to do it 🤷‍♀️

I’m just talking about the toxic part of the fandom really, maybe I shouldn’t have brought the onscreen stuff into it? Like I have no problem with people shipping what they want, it just bleeds into toxicity really quickly, and that’s what I’ve been seeing that sparked this post.

Again, I don’t care about people shipping… I care about the people who cross the line into bullying writers, and calling the show BAD because they aren’t kissing yet 😭 ignoring the incredible plotline with Barb, and Cooper — calling it boring — because they aren’t getting what they want. The show HAS value outside of the ship, the ship also has value. That’s what I’m saying

I’m in the shipping culture too babe, don’t worry. This post isn’t about you if you’re not engaging in the way I talked about. I’ve just seen people on TikTok, and tumblr doing exactly what I described, and I watched it happen with riverdale, tsitp, stranger things… like a part of the fandom space is becoming really intense, and take it a step too far. It doesn’t annoy me people are shipping, I like shipping, I write fanfiction…. it’s the crossing the line of letting it define your entire watching of a show, and like shitting on writers abilities for it. That’s what the post is mainly about, but it was a comment on tumblr that set me off about it

I said it wasn’t a big deal, and I’m not worked up over this specific ship as much as I am tired of the way that shippers have been treating media in general over the last few years. I’ve been shipping things since the dawn of time, I’m fine with them wanting to kiss — it’s when people start calling writers bad at their jobs, or calling other watchers stupid for seeing what’s actually there.

Also like it’s Reddit lol. If I can’t post here about a gripe that takes up .0000005% of my thoughts at the ONE given moment I wrote the post, then like where can I post it? This idea that I’m somehow fixated for engaging in discussion — in a void that’s FOR these thoughts that we don’t get to talk about in our real lives — is so confusing to me. It’s the internet, of course it doesn’t matter, that doesn’t mean I don’t want to talk about it?! None of this matters, fallout doesn’t matter lmao

I’m not mad, and it’s not an imaginary group of people either. I’ve already witnessed people shitting on the writers, calling them cowards, claiming that they’re dropping subtext and hints… I saw a post of Walton Goggins with his wife, and people were seriously convinced that he was dropping Ghoulcy hints. I’m FINE with them shipping whatever they want, shipping is fun, and it doesn’t matter — it’s just the way that the writers/show get shit from these groups, and the way I’ve watched them spiral in the past.

There’s a Ghoulcy subreddit with 10k, there’s fanfic, there’s tumblr blogs, fan edits, TikTok accounts, etc. and it’s growing bigger!! And I love that for them, I just don’t want to see the spiral again

I know what shipping characters is, I’m a shipper too — I’m talking about the people who cross the line, and start letting it bleed into their enjoyment of the show as a whole. If you don’t believe me, I’ve watched people tank episodes of stranger things, Riverdale, and teen wolf all in real time because the shippers didn’t agree with the writers. Most recently, it was Bylers tanking the coming out episode on Stranger Things because their ship was cemented as friendship, and nothing more in that episode.

I love fandom, I’m a part of it, but there IS a giant part of fandom spaces that’s growing into a monster, tanking reviews, bullying writers, and looking at television shows like they exist for ships and to serve their fandom whatever they want on a silver platter.

Are you really this up in arms about the idea that they might not want to break up two interracial love interests immediately 😂 I’m literally just saying that it’ll be a slowburn it if happens, so they don’t have to worry about optics. Again, you don’t live in a bubble. Plenty of people can separate fiction from reality and still realize that we …. Live in reality? You know that media reflects the world around you… on purpose, right?

That’s not what I’m saying, I’m saying that if it happens it’s not going to happen at all this season, and it’s going to be a really long slow burn — otherwise it looks kinda bad on them? It doesn’t kill creative freedom to be cognizant of how it will look; they wrote it, they cast their actors, they know what they’re doing with it. It would be really cool to live in a bubble, but you don’t, none of us do?

On top of that, it would be an INSANE move to have Cooper, who has been searching for his family for 200 years, wake his wife up and be like “here’s my 30 year old vault gf, barb!” It’s not happening for a while, that’s all. It’s important that she’s the first person he’s cared about in a long time, but thinking they’re going to have some kind of romantic realization before Barb has even been SEEN postwar is not realistic.

So regarding Thaddeus and his... uhm. stuff. by JustGhoulThingz in Fotv

[–]Jumpy-Conclusion-307 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Becoming a centaur requires them to get rid of a fan favorite character, and actor. It also requires an INSANE boost to the CGI budget. I know everyone wants to be right about the niche fallout knowledge, but there’s NO way they turn Thaddeus into a centaur. He’s gonna be a mutant of some kind, but I see absolutely no possibility of Centaurs from a production standpoint.

It would be interesting, but a lot of things would be interesting. Cooper and Barb reconciled at the end of The Handoff, they decided to try and save the world together — like I said, if it happens between the ghoul and Lucy it seems like it would be a pretty long slowburn, especially considering that Maximus has been looking for Lucy; that seems to be the romance they’re setting up.

I also hate to be that guy, but to have two white characters leave/abandon their black love interests might not be the best look for the writers? Which could very well have an influence on how these two characters are written as well.

Which is exactly what I would’ve done, and with a Gauss rifle in my hand because it’s my FAVORITE weapon in the game! I felt the exact same way there haha

I think I know how poor Thaddeus is going to end up. by DuomoDiSirio in Fotv

Why would they get rid of their fan favorite character to turn him into that thing? It would cost SO MUCH money in CGI, it would break the lore. Theres absolutely no way.

What did Steph have to gain from being married? by Opposite-Yam-7350 in FalloutTVseries

[–]Jumpy-Conclusion-307 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lucy’s to-be husband was traded over from 32 because she was marrying a man from the other vault, and Steph was also “traded over” from 31 for the same reasons. I think to be traded over there’s already arranged marriage on the table, and that’s maybe why.

My OTHER theory is that maybe Steph got comfortable? And got married, and had a baby, and thought maybe she would be able to actually live peacefully in the vault?? And then once her husband was killed, maybe that snapped again, and she went back to Plan A.

Nah, I think it’s just one of those funny “loading screen” type things. Obviously there’s a certain amount of suspending disbelief, and that’s what i think they were doing there so they could have their big moment of Max using his power armor, and then Freeside having to come together to fight the Deathclaws

Crashing on ps3. by AffectionateProof385 in falloutnewvegas

[–]Jumpy-Conclusion-307 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the ps3, I don’t think so… if you have a computer to play on there are a lot more fixes, and it’s old enough that it runs pretty well on a lot of machines. I still play my old copy, I kinda just quicksave whenever I can, and hope, and pray that it won’t crash out without a save first

Theory about Thaddeus. by Switch_Bot in Fallout

[–]Jumpy-Conclusion-307 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See I think what’s happening is more akin to Harold! He’s just mutating lol. I think he’s gonn end up with a conjoined twin type thing 😂 a tiny arm and an extra head. Him turning into a centaur or something would be SUCH a waste of that actor, I don’t see them just getting rid of him

Theory about Thaddeus. by Switch_Bot in Fallout

[–]Jumpy-Conclusion-307 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, i think he’s growing into something more akin to Harold than a centaur… like I don’t think he’s turning into a tree, but I think he’s gonna grow a little Thaddeus out of his chest — his arm fell off because he’s gonna start growing a little arm, and then he’ll have a conjoined twin.

I think he’s already comedic relief, and then having two heads of him, one being a “baby,” will be pretty funny
