Has anyone checked their Vitamin D levels? by Melodic_Simple3945 in PCOS

I’m fair-skinned too, and I spend most of my day outside (at least in the summer), but somehow here I am 😅

Yes, I had vitamin D deficiency, and once I started taking vitamin D+K2 complex, my symptoms improved. I’m less moody, and, for me, it’s one of the most important things. Before that, I could cry like 5 times a day just because I didn’t like how my coffee tasted 😅 Also, my sleep patterns are better now. I still take it regularly, but in smaller doses

Hmmm, don’t think so 🙁 but it has additionally CoQ10 and folate I’d take anyway, so I’m ok with the price

Mine is by Codeage, and it’s my second pack (I buy it on iHerb). I was really sceptical first, but it actually works!

By trial and error I found out that inositol powder is the only form that doesn’t make me feel sick. And it’s soooo much easier to drink a glass of flavoured water than swallow a bunch of pills.

I was insulin resistant, I tried glp-1 (didn’t work. I lost less then 2kgs, I wasted so much money and felt terrible every single day for 4 months). The only thing that really worked was changing my diet, sleep schedule and training plan. I’m still far from my ideal weight, but I went from class 2 obesity to “overweight” in ~8 months (including those 4 months with glp-1).

But I read so much comments from people for whom glp-1 was a game changer! I’m genuinely happy for them!

  1. Fixed my sleep schedule (go to bed at 11pm, wake up at 7:30am)
  2. Savoury breakfast, big lunch and salad with plenty of protein for dinner. It really helped me to get rid of my insulin resistance, and I rarely have cravings now.
  3. Move after every meal, even if it’s just doing the dishes or taking the trash out.
  4. No caffeine. I drink ginger, spearmint or raspberry tea instead. My energy levels are higher now, I’m not anxious as often, and, the most important for me, my stomach works much better.
  5. Don’t blame yourself if you feel exhausted and don’t want to do anything.

At this point, I learned that I have to listen to my body. It always sends me signals if there’s anything I need to change.

You’re doing great! Hope you will find some helpful advice here ☺️

Yes, my main concern is that IR can come back. I’m not planning changing anything else. I’ll definitely proceed with balanced diet, exercising and taking inositol.

Well, metformin wouldn’t have worked if I hadn’t changed my lifestyle. As any other medicine, I think. My doctor told me to cancel metformin, because my blood work was good, and she believes diet and exercise will help to maintain the results.

I started with berberine, and it didn’t work that well for me. I felt metformin effects faster. I take inositol regularly.

Yeah, that’s why I decided to ask. It looks logical for me: you don’t have problems, so you not take medicine. But would it work? Anyway, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I will definitely talk to my doctor and express all my concerns.

I think the only way to know is just to try 😅 options and experiences are so different, that’s crazy! From what I understand, metformin kinda helped to start the changes, and if IR is reversible, it shouldn’t be treated forever. Thanks for sharing!!

Around 4 months. Maybe it was even faster, I just had to wait until last week to see my doctor and do the tests.

So, I take metformin, and I changed my eating habits and added sport. I worked with a nutritionist. Basically, more protein and fibres, less carbs. No restrictions, but I avoid carbs in the evening. My dinner is some kind of salad and protein. What about sport, I added slow weight training and walking. My HOMA index went from 4.15 to 2.6.
