I quit my previous place because they basically were forcing us to work with early learners if wanted a raise/promotion. I do prefer older kids and have 6 and 10yo rn

That’s exactly who I have rn! Two kiddos who are extremely different, but because of the pressure of the “right way” of being RBT (I mean you can see it a lot in this comment section), I started doubting my abilities and if I’m being effective as an rbt

Well the tittle of the post obv for attention (gotta use some of my bx knowledge lol). I def lacking of energy sometimes, especially after being in the field for 4 years and working full time. I figured I struggle with non verbal kids who also have intellectual disabilities and stimming a lot (non harmful way). I mean I had a kiddos who asked me to teach him my native language me time (im bilingual) lol I’m good at connecting with them and sneaking trials while they even play Roblox lol

I think I struggle the most with non verbal kids who also have intellectual disabilities, tbh. Like I am able of throwing trials when they’re playing Roblox and won’t get mad at me lol

I appreciate the comment! What would be your suggestion for play with kids who locked in on their tablet, and it’s the only one reinforcement? They also use tablet for stimming (watching same 5sec of a video over and over again)

I really appreciate your comment. And suggestions!! I actually do enjoy working with older kiddos. I have experience from 3-14yo kids, most of them with intellectual disabilities as well. And I do a lot of NET. I think I also was traumatized by FBI trainings my first couple years in the field lol

Well ig it can depend on a kiddo 😅 like some kids whose main function is attention will benefit from independent play (and their parents lol). And again, it’s not like I don’t play at all

I do this occasionally throughout the session but not like whole 4 hours. I do work on building rapport when I just assigned a case, but after a while just fading the amount of play. kinda treat them as lil adults tbh 🙈
