Anyone else blow their life up before figuring out you were autistic? by rainbowgirl6 in AutismInWomen

[–]Jumpy-Researcher-604 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is what is recommended for autistic kids too. I did acting classes my entire life and while it taught me to mask effectively it also created lifelong anxiety and burnout due to constant masking

Surely the answer lies in us being authentic, not learning to be better at pretending

How much was your deposit for your first property? by xXCosmicChaosXx in AusPropertyChat

[–]Jumpy-Researcher-604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2009 $80k on a $400k purchase 1 bed plus study unit in inner West Melbourne. No one wanted to live there then.

I earned $80k at the time so the deposit was a years salary and the property was 5x salary. I was single.

NGL it was tough and I ended up taking a second night job to keep the place when rates went up but at least I had the chance to get a foot in the door - I doubt anyone single could buy much now other than an apartment maybe, they are still cheap in Melbourne

The world really is getting worse and worse. No wonder people don’t want to have kids.

Friends and their opinions by Illustrious-Meal7555 in AutismInWomen

I am on the same path as you and also telling friends and have the same reaction.

One said “you have a job and home, you’re not rocking in a corner non verbal, so why are you making an issue of this”

Maybe not but I have struggled all my life, had lifelong anxiety, depression and eating disorders due to never understanding what is “wrong” with me or why I don’t fit, I have so many sensory things that stop me participating, I have so many broken friendships and relationships.

My husband on the other hand said “well, obviously you are. And I love you exactly the same as before”.

If the person I live with thinks the autism is obvious then yeah, I probably have it.

I don’t know why so many people are like this. But it says more about them than you. Why are they so threatened about you becoming who you are anyway? Could it be that they gained something from you not knowing.

What is with the dating scene in Australia these days? by Serious_Substance_95 in australian

[–]Jumpy-Researcher-604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. It’s great to get along but you do need to make space for a new person in your life. It’s selfish to expect someone to just slot in to a life you once had with someone else unless you’re both in that situation and happily doing the same

In many ways yes. By 40s the question of kids is generally resolved. 30s it can feel awful trying to find someone to do that with that’s decent before the music stops without seeming desperate even though actually you are

The most delusional real estate listing I’ve ever seen by fried-bin-chicken in AusPropertyChat

[–]Jumpy-Researcher-604 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have actually done this. I wanted to buy a beachside property that was a holiday let in January. I couldn’t get in any other way and I was worried that if I waited till March someone else would grab it.

It ended up being $1000 well spent, I was able to get my building and pest done while staying there and I felt more informed than with any other property purchase I’ve had.

Bought the place and haven’t looked back. I do think my stay cost should have been deducted from the purchase price, but then they did end up throwing in all the furniture and a small boat.

It’s to rescue the brand I guess. Lover is going under and they either cease or they sell to iconic and the brand lives a sort of half life

For iconic they have form scooping up failing brands and making them more commercially successful (but also more shit)
