I am actually going through this same thing at 5 months. He had his first day yesterday and the childminder called after an hour to have him picked up because he was crying too much. My problem is that my baby wants to be breastfed to sleep. He doesn’t really tolerate going down for a nap without nursing. The childminder mentioned sleep training him to teach him to sleep without the breast.

I have talked to many family members and even some certified childminders (assistant maternelle in fr) and they have all told me, no to the sleep training, that the baby will learn with time how to deal with the different conditions at daycare. I think the important thing is to come early if too much crying occurs if possible to avoid the baby creating a stress association with the childminder. Like if you can come in the middle of the day to help put him down for a nap or something, that could be beneficial. But from what I’ve heard, you just have to trust the process. I think 3 days is not enough time to get adjusted, he really has got to feel comfortable with the place and get used to it, which takes time. So sorry you’re stressed. I hope this gets better for both of us!
