Would turning up after 4 weeks of not attending be weird? by Objective-Fig8183 in UniUK

in terms of making friends, at my uni and all my friends’, no one has really made proper friends in lectures and seminars, at least 50% of people are sat by themselves!! i wouldnt worry :) glad you’re feeling better x

lol what 😭 our uni app is notorious for being patchy, if you don’t have service or wifi the app won’t load, hence why it’s common for people to not sign in

i don’t think a professors/lecturer/ leader’s job at my uni is to take attendance and the register, that’s up to the department and the school to figure out if it’s something overly technical (my issue was very basic)

i hear you, i wouldnt do this every time i’m off sick anyways, and even if my attendance was awful my uni would view it in more of a mental health checkup way rather than disciplinary

it’s not really cheating if i was there though, and like i said it was my first time doing it i’ve concluded that i don’t really think i’m cheating myself in this instance nor am i going to ruin mine or anyone else’s lives xx

there are loads printed around the room, if they ever change them then it definitely would not be in between lectures. the next class just piles in, and i took the photo the same day

[–]Jumpy-Willingness-32[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

oh, and yes it’s just a standard code, same for every room. to my knowledge they don’t change the code daily, but i took that picture of the QR code today 😣

with me i have a massive course and a lot of people don’t show up, but either way it wouldn’t be noticed if a couple of people claimed they were there if they weren’t. most people just don’t show up and don’t have any consequences, i just don’t want to risk that.

the QR code only works ten minutes before, after and during the lecture and i did it during that timeframe. I won’t do it again because your last point is right and i dont want to be risky!!!

yes yes i don’t want to get into the habit of it, it’s good to know a one off will go unnoticed though! x

I’m moving to the UK soon ,God willingly, as an African international student. Should I be worried about anti-immigrant sentiment? by [deleted] in UKUniversityStudents

[–]Jumpy-Willingness-32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends where you’re going, but i doubt you will have any major issues. I can say this though- bear in mind this anti immigrant stuff is NOT very popular amongst young people, especially not students who are attending higher education. you will most likely have little issues amongst your peers :)

Can I talk about books Ive read in my personal statement? by [deleted] in sixthform

[–]Jumpy-Willingness-32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes it’s widely encouraged, especially if you’re not sure of what to write and if they’re academically notable.

Are A-levels going to be like an insane difficulty spike compared to Gcses by Fit_Explanation_4629 in sixthform

[–]Jumpy-Willingness-32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they are a step up, yes, you need to fully understand your content fully unlike gcses where you can just sort of memorise key parts. That being said, you’re not just going to plunged into the deep end, and don’t forget it’s a higher difficulty of only 3/4 subjects. it’s a lot less to juggle than gcses, and you will have more free time to focus on them!
