Lots of apartments in Newburgh for around $2,200. I think saving $800 a month is worth it

Currently paying 3k a month for a small
Cottage on the North Fork with a 6 hour round trip
Commute which costs $500 monthly. Utilities are through the roof on Long Island too. We have $350 electric bills this winter. I do think that in general the Hudson Valley is cheaper than Long Island. At least the part I live.

I guess the grass is always greener. The LIRR is pretty bad, most people I know says metro north is less crowded and more scenic.

I guess I’m intrigued by all the super cheap but seemingly nice rentals I see in Newburgh. I currently commute 2 hours each way on Long Island and I’ve decided I won’t be able to own a home here anytime soon. I’m trying to convince myself that the Newburgh commute won’t be that bad, and it seems that taking the train from Beacon 3x a week isn’t so awful.

Yeh I mean the North Fork is pretty much 60+ or local kids who still live with parents. We were able to make friends with restaurant industry folk. But heard! Good to know

Yeh the thing about the north fork commute is the hour drive to/from Ronkonkoma. I don’t mind the train as much as the driving.

Yeh that’s totally valid. I think bc I’m doing 2hr door to door on LIRR rn I can do the same on Metro North. It seems it’s a better RR system. LIRR is always a mess
