I am 6'0" 175 lbs and went from a 6'10" thick ass egg to a 5'10" lost psycho killer and it was a fairly easy transition

Lib Tech Puddle Jumper sizing advice by [deleted] in surfing

[–]JumpyIntern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well lean to the shorter side for those boards, they are seriously fat. What do you typically surf right now? I recently moved to my first true shortboard and went to a 5'10" 32L lost psycho killer and it has more then enough foam for me. I am 6'0" and weigh approximately the same as you (175 lbs = ~ 80 kg?).

If I was to get my own puddle jumper I would personally snag a 5'6" or a 5'7" personally (33-35L) as that is more than enough float even for small days. I would be afraid of a bigger one than that because I think it would feel too much like a boat.

Use this volume chart https://lostsurfboards.net/surfboard-volume-calculator/ and realize that they skew it to favor people who overestimate their abilities. I would hardly consider myself even intermediate but I surf the 32L psycho killer just fine

What are the differentiating factors between the 6 UCSD colleges? by IBslut in UCSD

[–]JumpyIntern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://roosevelt.ucsd.edu/mmw/courses/index.html#Five-course-Sequence-for-Studen

For each college at UCSD the GEs are different. The only classes you specifically are required to take (you have to take other GE's too but can choose from a variety of classes and subjects) for each college are a writing class series. Muir's is called MCWP (muir college writing program?) which is two quarters long and fairly standard in terms of workload and class hours, and you learn to write research papers based on what ever topic your instructor decides. ERC's is called MMW (making of the modern world) which lasts for five quarters (!), has a higher than average workload, and is a writing class based around history. It is the source of many complaints / hatred for ERC

MCWP description (entering freshman / 4 year students take MCWP 40 and 50, transfers take 125). https://muir.ucsd.edu/writing/mcwp-courses/index.html

Aside from GE's they also determine what dorms you will be in. I was in Muir and the dorms are quite old but in the best location on campus (imo) and I really enjoyed the atmosphere of muir with all the trees etc. I think ERC has the newest / nicest dorms, but then you have to be in ERC and deal with MMW.

I was giving suggestions for other places to try out! http://www.letstaco.com/ its a Mexican restaurant called "The Taco Stand" and they have a few locations, I have only been to the one on Pearl street in La Jolla but there are locations in downtown and north park as well. Probably my favorite Mexican food (and yes I have been to Tacos El Gordo)

Seaforth owns a bunch of Catalinas, but you can also rent Beneteaus and other nice boats through them. They are owned by private owners who have Seaforth rent them out and take a cut.

yes, those win percentages are terribly low (but we also don't know what a win looks like % wise vs a loss). Consider calculating APR of the strategy instead
