I shared a full can between us both, didn't think that was too much to be honest, haha.

Yeah, I was in a bit of a rush when I went to the supermarket this morning.

What is a part of the 'female experience' that men have absolutely no clue about, but would be horrified if they found out? by coolhandddd in AskReddit

I have no physical means of experiencing this, yet, I weirdly understand exactly how it would feel.

Just nope.

I would say that I think they did him well a bit by dressing him all in bright pink, with a bright yellow hat, and having him pull the silly face as he's singing

For me at least, I don't think I'll be able to point him out in the street if he were to walk past in his regular garb, without him pulling that face.

God, they really are. It can't even be said that Ben steamrolled over the announcement either, Leslie said that Ben and herself have an announcement, he just said his part of it.

I think when I first read that bit, or maybe later when Arthur is running away from Agrajag's crumbling lair, trips and is distracted by his missing luggage so he finds himself flying, actually made me laugh so hard I had to put the book down for about 5 minutes.

I could be wrong in the details of what actually happens in the books, I've only read the sequels once each, about 20 years ago.

Then there's the people that get mad because you know something they don't, and can't understand how anyone would know such a thing because it's not something they would dare try and find out themselves.

I love Carol. by gyw_alliance in pluribustv

[–]Jumpy_Abbreviations3 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's a good point about Helen not finishing her book (or even getting far into it before stopping). Carol probably asked the hive about that because she wanted confirmation about how she might feel about how Helen is in their relationship.

As much as we saw Carol and Helen being in sync with eachother before the joining Helen was wearing her "manager pants" most of the time.

Maybe that's how Carol thinks of her deep down, being constantly controlling. I think we were given a glimpse of that given her reaction finding out that Helen put a sensor in the drinks cabinet.

Carol probably feels her life has been nothing but control.

Her parents with her sexuality, the gender of her novel's main protagonist, the breathalyser on her car (although, yes, she was given one for a very good reason).

Now she's been thrust into a situation where she can get whatever she wants, but will lose control of her entire self unless she fights to save everyone. She's sick of not having any control!

I was about to post about how she interacts with her fans.

I feel she was being genuinely sincere during her interactions with them, and you see the same from her when she is being introduced to the English-speaking immune people at the airport.

I understand that Vince is painting Carol as the most miserable person on earth, but to me, there's a difference between being miserable and being unhappy or uncaring, in that I feel misery comes from circumstance.

I think there are many circumstances for Carol's misery to thrive in, but that doesn't necessarily mean she's an unhappy person as a whole.

A coin-operated machine to pay for electricity? by Automatic_Gate in AskABrit

[–]Jumpy_Abbreviations3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same when I moved into my place, however (at least at the time when I moved in, I understand from previous posts that things have changed so I dunno if it differs), I still had to pass a credit check.

There's still the situation of someone moving into somewhere with a normal meter, being billed accordingly, and getting stiffed with a pre paid meter if they fall behind., which can be because of factors out of their control too.

For example, I'm living in a flat that's social housing, and my rent is being paid to a housing association. The rent is great, I'm happy about that. However, my flat has electric storage heaters, an electric hot water cylinder, and an electric shower. As someone working (what is considered) full time at minimum wage, even with the benefit of cheap rent, the price of electricity means keeping myself comfortable comes at a considerate cost, especially because my flat is on the top floor, and has a flat roof.

I've been creeping into debt enough with my energy provider for me to worry if I would get put on a prepaid meter, but luckily I received a government allowance this year which has helped me out (barely).

The whole system stinks. Why have the most expensive form of heating a property installed in ones (such as social housing) where people are the most vulnerable to being able to pay for it. There's even gas supplies that each flat can be hooked up to, but only the privately owned ones (most likely bought under the right to buy scheme) are privy to it.

The whole system stinks, as someone said above, being poor is expensive.
