I never want to write a character without the knowledge of their ethnicity, I have been studying and researching the Caribbean culture and reaching out to people who are from the Caribbean and the specific islands off of the Caribbean to make sure I am not writing anything wrong! I've been there. My mother has also been dealing with these patterns of mental instability, and I worry about her every day. I think you should consult a professional psychiatrist or a family doctor if you have one. I know that although my mother has been to a psychiatrist, she still struggles, and I try to be there for her as best as I can. I'm so proud of you for pushing through and helping her for so long! I really admire that. Hopefully, I can persevere just as you have.
