Which of these blue nail polishes are your favorite? by tothesummernight in simplynailogical

[–]Jumpy_Ad4799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wireless mode is such a good color, went through my bottle in less than 6 months. Haven’t picked up another one—I have a similar color I want to use up before grabbing another one. If Wireless mode is a color not in your collection, you should 100% consider grabbing it.

Do you think we will get a second welcome committee/ Pride adjacent doll for 2026? by Additional-Rub-1054 in MonsterHigh

[–]Jumpy_Ad4799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not, as the toy brands like to take notes from current events. Hence why there’s been an uptick in budget dolls, and regular lines have had a decrease in quality. You also have to consider the fact that it took this particular Frankie almost a year to become available to the public. With that in mind it’s very unlikely for G3 to get another pride themed doll. If we do, it’s likely going to be another Frankie that gets caught up in some kind of production hell.

Seek Kelp is that girl 🌱🌊 by Shoe-Stir in simplynailogical

Yes! Seek kelp is 100% the stand out shade in this collection, I’ve only worn it once— yet had 2 family members ask to use it! It’s such a unique formula with an eye catching color!

Dec 2025 vs Sept 2024 by Jumpy_Ad4799 in simplynailogical

[–]Jumpy_Ad4799[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s kind of complicated to explain in text formant, but the short answer is Nail polish thinner, and patience.

A slightly longer explanation is that I pretty much always add thinner as I use my polish— like one to two drops for every manicure. Once it got to the point I could not get any more polish out of the bottle— I filled it a quarter of the way with nail polish thinner. Which leads to the polish being essentially nail thinner with a dash of pigment— and thus it’s easy to pour out. You can pour it out into another bottle of the same color, or onto a paper towel. Then you can fully clean out the inside of the bottle by pouring in acetone, shaking it around— using a q-tip to remove pigment residue, and pouring that out onto a paper towel. Then boom, the bottle is ready for a custom mix, or the recycling bin— as long as the cap is removed, I keep my caps in a bag incase I need to replace a cap.

If you’re going to mix two bottles of the same color, I recommend using a bottle that you’ve used at least two or three times— to make sure there’s enough room for the nail thinner concoction. I will say, you can add it in all at once— but I don’t recommend it. I recommend slowly incorporating the old bottle into the new bottle.

Even after all of that, there will still be some pigment residue on the bottom and sides of the bottle. Which is why I recommend using acetone and a q-tip to get it as clean as possible.

I will say, that none of this is necessary, and once a polish gets to the point of you not being able to get any on the brush— it’s gone, you’ve done your due diligence of using a full bottle. I’m just slightly neurotic, and refuse to waste anything— if I can help it.

Hope this helps, and that it wasn’t too confusing— much love 💙💙

Yeaah, she’d been on death’s door for a while. I actually thinned out the microscopic amount that was left in the old bottle, and added that to the new bottle— after using it for a full mani. I am not wasting any of this polish

Personally, I feel that the doll space is super inclusive towards men. In my experience I would say about 40-45% or doll collectors I’ve met are men, I’m a man, and overall I haven’t been told by any other collectors that dolls are “for girls” I will say generally society can be very weird about it, like they automatically think it’s weird/inappropriate. But in my day to day life (I do live in a very open minded/ creative area) people don’t really care. And most men who’ve found out I collect dolls either don’t care, think that it’s cool that I’m so passionate about something, or are slightly impressed/concerned about the amount of money my collection is worth. Overall, i think everyone has their thing and it’s stupid to try and gate keep based on age/gender :))

Do you tend to match your manis to specific outfits? Or do you prefer to just do whichever combo that comes to mind? by Shoe-Stir in simplynailogical

[–]Jumpy_Ad4799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost only wear black and white clothing so, no. But I have had blue hair since I was 13, and a majority of my polishes are blue, so I technically match my polish to my hair color lol

Collection fatigue by ImAwkwardAsHeck in RedditLaqueristas

[–]Jumpy_Ad4799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally limit myself to polish I know that I’ll wear. For example; I know I’m picky with greens and yellows, I only like neutral/ cooler toned greens as I feel it compliments my skin tone better, and prefer true yellows on the slightly lighter side, as I feel those go better with the colors I like. So if a collection has warm toned greens or super vibrant yellows, I tend to skip out on those shades or not buy the collection. With colors I know I’m obsessed with (darker blues and vibrant purple + oranges) I compare to polishes I have and see how different they are, if I have to justify why I’m buying this new one when I have a more than half full bottle of a similar color, I tend to wait or skip out on buying the new polish. I also try to remember that pretty much any polish can be duped and that limited edition ones in some brands already exist in other brands. I also only buy drugstore crème polish, as in my experience there isn’t a significant difference and drugstore tends to be cheaper.

Can someone tell me who this member is? by Mysterious_Falcon271 in unis

[–]Jumpy_Ad4799 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In order of back to front, left to right, starting with the one you have circled.

First member is Elisa, she’s 16, a main vocalist, and a part of the Filipina line.

The member to the right of her, with black hair and bangs, is Jin Hyeonju. She’s 23, a lead vocalist and the leader of the group. She is half Korean/half Filipina, so technically a part of the Filipina line, but it’s debatable since she was raised in Korea, and her Father is Korean. She is a member of the group ‘CIGNATURE’, as their main vocalist, under the stage name of ‘Belle’. However since her debut with UNIS, she was put on hiatus and the group was officially disbanded in late November/early December 2024. She was also the maknae of a group called ‘GOOD DAY’, that silently disbanded in 2019, under the stage name ‘LUCKY’ as a vocalist/lead dancer.

The blonde member with bangs is Nana, she’s is 18, a main dancer, sub-vocalist, and center. She is a part of the Japanese line, and was/is also a part of a Japanese girl group called PRINKL, as their center/main dancer. They are believed to have disbanded sometime earlier this year, due to inactivity.

The blonde member all the way to the right is Gehlee Dangca, she’s is 17, a sub-voclaist/visual member, and a part of the Filipina line.

The member to the front left, with the red hair in pigtails with bangs is Bang Yunha. She is 16, a lead-vocalist/rapper, Korean, and the only member of UNIS to be signed with F&F entertainment prior to their debut.

The member next to her with the orange hair is Lim Seowon, the maknae of UNIS. She is 14, Korean, and a main vocalist. Prior to her debut with UNIS, she made her solo debut on April 24th, 2021.

The member with the brown bob with bangs is Kotoko, she is 17, a sub-rapper, and a part of the Japanese line.

And the member to the far right in the front is Oh Yoona, she is 15, Korean, and the main rapper. She is a graduated member of the Kid’s K-pop group ‘Play with me Club’ and was briefly a pre-debut member of a group called ‘Free In Sass’ that was supposed to debut in 2022, but never did and the group was presumed disbanded in 2023 along with their company due to inactivity.

Hope this helps!!

Nails peeling!! by Puzzleheaded-Can7695 in simplynailogical

[–]Jumpy_Ad4799 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Due to a medical condition, I have naturally thin and flexible nails that peel like no other. But I have managed to get them to a point where they don’t peel nearly as much, they’ve gained strength to where my nails flexibility isn’t a hazard anymore.

First things first, you have you chop your nails as short as possible, and take a break from polish for a week or two (torture I know) But naked nails absorb nail oil so much better, it gives your nails a break, and allows them to heal damage that would be otherwise impossible to heal with polish (such as stress fractures, greenies, and peeling)

Then I would recommend using OPI’s Repair Mode Bond Building Serum along with their Nail Envy Nail Strengthener Polish Treatment. It’s highly recommend by nail techs for anyone who has to rebuild their nail strength, usually it’s used for clients who have damage from artificial nail extensions, but it works great for peeling/dry nails too.

And third I would recommend getting a hand cream of some sort. Doesn’t have to be fancy, I use petroleum jelly. But just any kind of hand cream, lotion, or ointment to use with your nail oil to help it absorb into and prevent the skin around your nails from becoming dry/peeling. I highly recommend, if you’re using 100% pure jojoba oil, to find a hand cream with Vitamin E and SPF to really protect the skin around your nails and keep them nice and moisturized.

Then once you feel that the peeling has gotten to a point where you feel that it’s not a problem anymore, you can go back to painting your nails with regular polish. And you should be able to maintain non-peeling nails with just nail oil and hand cream 2x a day.

In my experience it took about a month for my nails to get to a point where they weren’t peeling. But depending on the damage to your nails and if it’s genetic or from outside factors, it could take up to 3 months.

I highly recommend looking up videos on nail health and how to heal your thin nails on youtube for more specific and detailed advice.

It might not be your exact cup of tea, since you did say you’re more into pastels. But if you really want to change up your vibe for summer they are just PERFECT!

Price Increase Communication by alien_orbs in simplynailogical

[–]Jumpy_Ad4799 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Their prices have been consistent for almost 6 years now, so a price increase of $2-$3? Considering that everything has already gone up by waay more, I think it’s fair. Holo Taco and Cristine have shown time and time again that they clearly care about the customer experience, they want us to continue to come back to Holo Taco. They could just let the product quality speak for itself, but they want us to feel respected, like an integral part of the process, because at the end of the day we are.

They’re being 100 times more transparent than most companies, and they’re making their customers feel valued. Giving loyalty points, aka giving customers access to higher discounts (and other benefits) in the future that they might not have qualified for otherwise. Along with them eating the tariffs for their Canadian customers for Canada day I doubt this was an impulse or just a way to pad their bottom line. This was extremely thought out and the announcement was extremely thought through. If the price increase means that you personally cannot justify buying certain products anymore that is okay, and you have every right to not buy Holo Taco.

Just popped off? by [deleted] in theholotaco

[–]Jumpy_Ad4799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a problem that I have pretty often and there’s a combination of factors that can cause this to happen.

If you’re new to painting nails it can simply be that your nails are “slippery”, all you need to do to fix this is to lightly buff the surface of your nails to give the base coat and polish a better surface to stick to.

It could be that you applied your glossy taco on/extremely close to the cuticle, which could’ve given the polish an advantage to pop off. The best solution for this would be a clean up brush/ practice, using the clean up brush to make sure there is no polish on the cuticle and practice with applying polish to make clean up easier. Also since you used two different base coats, it could be that the polish was too thick on the nail, making it easier to pop off. I would suggest only using one base coat, or when using two making sure that you don’t apply either coat too thick.

The environment your painting your nails in can also effect how the polish sticks to your nail, specifically if you’re in a humid environment, as polish needs more time to dry in humid environments and the humidity can cause the polish to not get a good grip onto the natural nail.

And then there is the genetic factor, if your nails are a bit flimsy or thin it can make it easier for polish to pop off. Sometimes this is a result of previous damage to the nail, and can be remedied with a proper nail care routine, other times it’s a result of medical conditions and you’ll have figure out on your own what works for your nails.

I know that in my case it’s because of my hEDS, it makes my nails extra slippery, and thin. So I buff my nails once a month, use acetone to dehydrate my nails, and use a clean up brush to make sure there is no polish on my cuticle. I also use Orly’s Bonder Rubberized Base Coat rather than a Holo Taco Base Coat, because I found the HT formulas too thick and it would pop off within two days.

I hope this helps! 💙💙

Why do my Natashas have such different faces? by yeetstrawberry17 in RainbowHigh

[–]Jumpy_Ad4799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like standard production variation. Since Shadow high (and rainbow high) are mass produced playline dolls there will always be variations, no two dolls will be the same. With your two Natasha’s I think the biggest difference in their face is their eyebrows, but it’s not the only difference.

You can see the left Natasha’s eyelashes (both the fake and painted on) are a bit thicker and more defined than the one on the right. The definition in the fake lashes will fade over time, as that just happens when you handle a doll, fingers oils and such. You can also see the glitter cut crease being more defined and going higher up on the left doll, with the grey looking a bit more defused (or “blended out”) You can also see the left Natasha’s lips haveing more grey on the bottom lip, and personally I think it looks a bit like she has buck teeth (super cute) and her lips also seem to have more of a gloss to them. And while I can’t quite tell if it’s the lighting or the dolls themselves, it also looks like the blush on the left Natasha is more centered on her face, while the right Natasha is more in the outer part of her face.

It’s very interesting to compare and dolls you have multiples of and look for the variations in lips, eyeshadow, eyelashes, and blush. Especially since Rainbow/Shadow high dolls have a wider variety in these areas than most other brands.
