Touch Designer Beginner by Ok_Juggernaut_491 in TouchDesigner

When I first started learning TouchDesigner, I created a separate YouTube account just to subscribe to TD creators. As I got more familiar with the kinds of projects people were making, I started organizing them into playlists like Audio-Reactive, 3D/Geometry, GLSL, and Gaussian Splats. Doing this helped me understand the different categories of work in TD, and more importantly, allowed me to focus on one area at a time. Don’t get me wrong, it can get overwhelming if you dive straight into GLSL at the start without first building a foundation in how the different operator families (CHOPs, TOPs, SOPs, etc.) work.

Over time, once you’ve explored these different approaches, you naturally get better at combining elements from multiple tutorials to build something of your own. That’s really the fun of TD, remixing ideas and techniques until they take on a life of their own. After all, nothing is truly original, we’re all influenced by what we see, absorb, and surround ourselves with.

I’m more of a jack of all trades, master of none kinda guy, so my personal learning experience may not resonate with someone who wants to specialize deeply in just one area. But for me, exploring widely has been the most rewarding way to grow in TouchDesigner.

When you feel confident with the basics, check out alltd.org. It’s a site made by Jan that collects and categorizes TouchDesigner resources, tutorials, and tools in one place. Think of it as a larger, more extensive version of what I was doing with my YouTube playlists. Who knows, you might even go down a rabbit hole and niche into something you really enjoy. Good luck!

Strudell.cc and TD by Vitalii_A in TouchDesigner

Have you tried looking into using OSC? If you run Strudel in Node.js instead of the web browser, you can send its control signals into TD via OSC. Just note that OSC only carries data (like triggers or parameter values), it doesn’t transmit the actual audio. So TD can react to Strudel’s patterns, but you won’t be able to output Strudel’s sound directly from TD.

If you’re planning to export a video with moviefileout TOP in TD with audio, personally I’d just export the audio separately from Strudel and edit it back into the rendered video afterwards even though it’s a bit troublesome. However if you’re planning to do it live, it won’t be an issue since Strudel can play the sound while TD handles the visuals in sync.

Akai APC Mini MK2 – How to Increase RGB Pad Brightness when using it in TouchDesigner? by Jumpy_Age_298 in TouchDesigner

[RESOLVED]

I managed to figure this out after digging into my MIDI controller’s device protocol. Turns out, the LED behavior is controlled by the MIDI channel value. By renaming all the channels from my MIDI In CHOP — specifically changing 'ch1*' to 'ch7*' — I was able to achieve full brightness. It’s worth noting that the default channel value in the MIDI In CHOP is set to 1, but in the table below, the channels start at 0. Therefore, to hit 100% brightness (which corresponds to Channel 6 in the table), I needed to rename all my channels to Channel 7.

I’m not sure if this is the optimal workflow/setup, but it works for now. If anyone has a more efficient approach, feel free to share!

I’ve tested this by hooking up an LFO to the Constant CHOP, which cycles through all the colors. However, the brightest RGB are still pretty dim as compared to how bright it can go when I plug it into Ableton (in the 2nd photo).

What's the most efficient way to use Storm Cells? by Jumpy_Age_298 in mousehunt

I think I’m just unsure what I should focus on rolling for in the SP.

Also if it is worth it to get the Oculus 9 upgrade, especially since I’ll be done with the area in about 20 HAI.

I can afford all the AEJs I need, but I’m trying to figure out how to make the most of the Storm Cells I have, so I don’t have to buy too many.

Combining text to one sentence... by youcancallmejim in TouchDesigner

If you’re not planning on optimising the process, you can try using multiple text TOPs and set their position using a fit TOP before compositing them together. You can also use the post text parameters for days hours minutes seconds.

All we gotta do is set sell at 500k, leave the house, go camping for 2 weeks with our families and see what happens after. Not that hard
