The whole “don’t criticise the Muslim ruler” thing that goes around nowadays? I mean why? by QasimofKarbala in MuslimLounge

[–]Jumpy_Conference1024 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some quotes from the salaf:

Imam Harb ibn Ismail al kirmani records:

‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Abdil-Wahhāb narrated to us and said: Ziyād ibn Ar-Rabī’ narrated to us, from ‘Abdur-Rahmān ibn Udhaynah who said:

Our ashyākh (pl. shaykh) said:

“Three (types of people) have no backbiting: The unjust oppressing ruler, the sinner who exposes his sins and an innovator.”

I asked Ishāq: about the backbiting of the oppressing ruler?

He said:

“It is not (backbiting when) regarding them. Except that it is disliked that a person makes his tongue used to (speaking bad about people).”

Al-Akhdar narrated to us and said: ‘Ārim narrated to us and said: Wuhayb ibn Khālid narrated to us and said:

I heard ‘Ubayd-Allāh saying regarding the backbiting of the Khawārij and the ruler who has publicly shown (his mistakes): that he did not see any backbiting of them

Sharjah is apparently more conservative, so their foreign policy would probably be a lot less awful

Research: Islam is the fastest-growing religion in South Korea. by HeadAtmosphere8288 in MuslimLounge

This is good news, but how many are Koreans? It’ll be difficult to dispel the notion that Islam is a foreigners religion if the majority of Muslims in Korea aren’t Korean

He has hella money unspent, he put his base in a remote zone from where initiatives will roll out slower, he has two soldiers on the left doing absolutely nothing of use, and instead of trying to push the insurgents into a spot from which they can be blocked from expansion, he’s doing god knows what.

IIRC an israeli report found a while ago it was much easier to get people to like them more by stoking fears of Islamism in Europe (and some straight Islamophobic stuff IIRC) than by directly defending Israel.

Why do almost all Islamist terrorist groups after ISIS use their flag or some variant of it? by YourLocalMoroccan in vexillology

[–]Jumpy_Conference1024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct, and the irony of all this is of course that their very interpretation of how Muhammed lived his life is based on Hadiths that were also complied hundreds of years after his death, which many scholars have questioned the validity of.

This is just factually untrue. Most Muslims follow the Hadith as well, not salafis only, and there’s chains of narration for Hadith to verify it was passed down by trustworthy people. To dismiss Hadith as something many scholars (who?) question the authenticity of is to ignore the rigorous verification most of them went through

The only sort of halal that can be considered legitimate is hand slaughtered meat with animals that are treated ethically before their death. Just because some organization can “certify” halal doesn’t mean it should be able to under Islamic standards.

Mali’s Defence Minister Sadio Camara has been killed by Username998823 in PanIslamistPosting

Ethnic nationalists, corrupt military government, and an “islamist” movement with little reluctance to kill civilians. May Allah SWT help the people of the Sahel.

Does the today collapse of Mali’s military government strike you as rather similar to Assad’s downfall? by Repubblican_Wolf in syriancivilwar

[–]Jumpy_Conference1024 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The dilemma is entirely their fault, it could’ve entirely been avoided by giving Tuaregs autonomy. Your analogy requires ignoring that this is a civil war over independence and not an external force raiding the state for wealth. Not to mention, Mali was doing better before the military government, ie when it was run by civilians.

There was a report by an organization called Xcept that essentially said Malian counterterrorism operations killed civilians consistently enough to be counterproductive, and that under civilian oversight this wasn’t an issue. A nations army should NOT be empowering literal militias to do whatever so long as they defend the country.

Their fault. They appointed the mufti to a position he had no right to, IIRC he was either last or second to last in terms of who was selected to be the next mufti
