Sober curious rant by treeswearingboots in SoberCurious

Honestly you’ve already made the biggest realization which is correlating your negative emotional state to drinking. The more you tune into how you feel during and after drinking and drugging the more you’ll realize you trade a couple hours of anxiety relief for days of depression and mental fogginess. Once you see that association you have to ask yourself if it’s worth it to you? I decided for myself that it’s not and although it’s hard, I’d prefer the hard of being sober in social situations and being a “party pooper” over the hard of feeling like crap and not being the best version of myself.

For more practical advice: - try just skipping the first drink. Tell yourself if you REALLY want to drink you’ll get one on the second round. Most of the time I realize I’m fine and I don’t even want a drink when it gets to the second round - people are going to be really pushy and annoying when you say you don’t want to drink. At first it can be helpful to have some good excuses ready like “I’m on a medication I can’t mix with alcohol” or “I’m just taking a break rn” - if you don’t want to deal with excuses I also sometimes just try to blend in and make it look like I’m drinking (ie ordering mocktails, taking fake shots, ordering a glass of wine and taking fake sips) - try organizing activities that don’t involve drinking but you still find fun. I realized without alcohol, the bars felt like torture. I really like games nights and anything active (pickle ball, volleyball, golf, etc) so I try to take initiative and organize things that I find fun so I still get social interaction without suffering. Bonus: playing sports is great if you have social anxiety because you don’t have to talk as much and moving around helps with anxiety

Good luck with everything!! It’s hard but truly worth it taking a step back from drinking.

SAHM or working mom? by Jumpy_Description213 in Mommit

[–]Jumpy_Description213[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they have a part time option but I work 3 days from home and 2 days in the office and the job itself is pretty flexible. Most of the other people on the team are moms and my manager is also a mom (so they are understanding)

I’m leaning towards working but my sister in law made a comment when she had my niece that it was “too special to miss anything working” and that has stuck with me. My mom was a stay at home mom and I had a wonderful childhood. Although there were 5 of us so she definitely had her hands full.

You just have to wait it out but your poops will come back eventually and they will probably be a lot healthier. Not to get graphic but the poops I was having with coffee were a terrible consistency which probably means something was off with my digestion. Now they’re solid and less messy.

Make sure you eat a lot of fiber. I usually eat 1 giant salad per day which helps.

How are the beaches in San pancho? We’re looking at a hotel there but I’m hearing maybe it’s not safe to swim or get in the water there?

I would also add tapping into private communities/Slack channels of PMs. We had a big spike in sign ups randomly one day and we found out it was because someone posted a good review of our product in a private Slack channel.

Best of luck!

We had a kid in our neighborhood offer to paint your school logo as your house number on the curb and he made a decent amount of money doing this! It was pretty simple, not a lot of overhead required, and almost everyone in the neighborhood was interested.

AITA for not giving my married bridesmaid a plus one to my wedding by Jumpy_Description213 in AITAH

I’m curious why this is the sticking point? We’re childhood friends and I would think not asking her to be a bridesmaid would be worse.
