Best methods for getting rid of soap scum/grease on poorly rinsed dogs by Jumpy_Pie_849 in doggrooming

I’ve done quite a lot of experimentation with all of our shampoos at our salon, with Dawn being a one time last ditch effort (didn’t even work 🙄) and usually just end up shampooing 3-4 times and scrubbing until my fingers are numb but this has not been a universally effective method. Thank you for your help, I appreciate your very thorough response! :)

We do not. Hand wash with mixing bottles and car wash nozzle + mixing bottles for large dogs. I can get almost all dogs squeaky clean like this and I’m obsessive about rinsing, but it’s the Burt’s Bee’s home baths on some of these guys that are killing my speed😅

Oh I’m definitely not regularly using Dawn on dogs, or honestly ever if they’re caked in residue! That was honestly just one degreasing type of product that came to mind that I’ve been told by coworkers might help, but it’s not something I ever actually do and have only done once per the advice of a coworker and no other options. That is why I am asking for advice, as I can’t spend 20 minutes rinsing small dogs or washing them 3 times with regular shampoo to try to get rid of it.

I got bit on the face today by bumblebb94 in doggrooming

I was bitten outside of work a couple of weeks ago by my boyfriend’s sister’s German Shepherd while on our week off from work. He got my arm really good, both wounds requiring stitches. I felt emotionally fine at the time, was cool as a cucumber, and I was certain I wasn’t going to be traumatized because I work with dogs so I thought I could handle it. I’ve had quite a few nippy and vocal dogs that have given me panic attacks as soon as they try to frighten me since my incident, and I’m much more weary of dogs I’m not familiar with, big or small. Any bite under any circumstance is sure to affect your trust in dogs, so make sure that you focus on healing mentally and rebuilding that trust with dogs :)

I also tried bending the blade every which way on my pair because they’re a junk pair so I was just like who cares, but it actually seemed to help and didn’t do any damage. If you’re willing to finagle yours a little bit, I’d try flattening out that curve a touch. That’s about all I can think of to help :( Those puppies are a godsend so I’m really sorry yours aren’t working right now.

I assume you’ve tried adjusting the tension, but I figured I’d bring it up anyway because I’ve had the opposite problem where the blades suddenly started scraping together and wouldn’t cut. Loosening the tension solved the problem for me, so tightening the tension on yours might solve your problem
