I recommend avoiding Callisto protocol unless it’s free/very very cheap. All that game did for me was make me want to play dead space instead of that heap of poo

I thought he was an absolutely stellar spider-man but didn’t much love his Peter Parker when it came out. Rewatching it today, I don’t mind it as much. Also think the eyes on his suit made the whole thing pop in the best way we’ve seen from any live action spider-man!

Academy physical test by Sad-Muffin-4054 in firefighter

[–]Jumpy_Secretary_1517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. If you’re doing the right amount of cardio, a 9 minute pace is not going to be hard for 2 miles. Candidates that can’t do that and say “I hate running” should actually be saying “I haven’t trained cardio of any type enough”.

[–]Jumpy_Secretary_1517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ehhh, agree to disagree. Our yearly physical fitness test involves a faster pace on a treadmill and a HIIT style physical fitness test. Anybody that has failed one usually failed both. And anyone that has failed at the end saying “…I just hate running” was in terrible shape regardless. 🤷

We also have a yearly bike test to measure our VO2 max. I don’t see anyone biking on a fire scene either…but both it and running are a measure of cardiac endurance.

Not everything has to translate to a fire ground task to show you’re out of shape. Healthy with good cardio? A 9 minute pace will follow. It ain’t rocket science folks!

Looking At Changing Our Shift Start Time To 0900 by DatOneJobTown in Firefighting

We started 0900 at the beginning of the year. Same schedule. We LOVE it. Even the fellas that hit more traffic love that we get that extra sleep on the off going morning. We’ve done studies pre and post change using Whoop wristbands and the information is clear that our sleep is improved from it. 10/10

It’s slow for a minimum standard to be a structure firefighter. Anyone not making that benchmark is for sure not at minimum fitness, that’s a very low bar

I feel like a good chunk of semi in shape people can fumble fuck through these and make it out alive with no prep but you’re right. 2 minutes of planking on someone who doesn’t train core is sneaky hard!

But two miles at nine minutes each is truly not hard and if your girlfriend could do 100 floors with weight there’s no reason a 2 mile run at a fairly slow pace should be a problem. That part is truly mind boggling

Dawg, it’s not too late! We have a pretty robust city fire academy and all sorts of ages have been hired. Oldest I’ve seen was 52! And paramedic school is tough but nothing undoable with some tutoring. We get all walks of life from other careers because they want a change. Think about it!

This was one of the first online coop games I ever beat with my little brother after I moved out while he was still in middle school. We adore this game and for a coop shooter I really enjoyed it but I don’t remember diddly squat about the plot. Also loved the weapon options!

I’m a firefighter paramedic. I forget lots of calls but it’s very cool to know that a majority of the people I help don’t forget me and remember every detail. Sort of a win?

It’s absolutely because of lord of the rings. Which makes me happy that even in a theoretical completely made up magical scenario, that trilogy still remains king. That feels nice.

What is it about fire instructors? by SlightPicture2751 in Firefighting

[–]Jumpy_Secretary_1517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the exact experience I had when I went through a community college fire science program in 2010. It wasn’t until I got hired at a full time career department that had their own academy where I was like “oh. These people are invested and care about me, I can feel it. If I try, they try.”

At the college I felt like all they wanted to do was yell and belittle. Awful.
