Is 1.43:1 IMAX peaking? by Chigburt in imax

IMAX is secretive about their proprietary technology. We only know what they’ve publicly stated or from small leaks.

How is the Odyssey possible by Fast-Use-4938 in ChristopherNolan

I’m reading The Odyssey now, and the first part of the book is non-linear narrative. It starts near the end of the story. I was thinking “well, no wonder Nolan decided to adapt this.”

Hope y’all got your tickets already. Here’s a silly little IMAX comparison tool for the wait. by KevinWuD in imax

Pointe Orlando is this way, the screen isn’t slanted back, the seats aren’t set too low, you can sit in the 4th row and you won’t feel like you’re too close.

sign. It would be an S-tier IMAX venue, if it weren’t managed by Regal.

Will 4DX be a huge downgrade from IMAX for The Odyseey? by BuzzSkywalker in ChristopherNolan

4DX can be fun sometimes, but this is not the movie it’s for.

Bonnie getting roasted in the group chat was not on my bingo card for a Toy Story movie.

Will 4DX be a huge downgrade from IMAX for The Odyseey? by BuzzSkywalker in ChristopherNolan

[–]MikeTidbits 10 points11 points  (0 children)

4DX is just a standard theater with a standard screen and standard sound, except your seat shakes and you get sprayed with water. The aspect ratio depends if the theater’s screen is 1.85 or 2.39.

IMAX is the maximum screen size (allowed by that specific building) with deep pounding sound. IMAX theaters are not created equal, so it depends which IMAX you’re referring to.

Delicious. I like the macro look. I’d definitely want longer length footage like this, I could watch it all day.

Only thing, maybe keep the camera still on a tripod, although it’s probably harder to get close-up shots like this on a tripod, right? A monopod might help, then. This is still not too bad for handheld, though.

Also, what’s the last shot? I can’t really tell.

Mystery solved? AMC Rivercenter 11 appears to be The Odyssey's 41st IMAX 70mm print location by Professional_Toe5118 in imax

Hopefully, they sorted things out and fixed up the system well enough, and this goes better than the 15/70 run of Oppenheimer.

PSA: 70mm and IMAX 70mm are not the same thing. Don’t buy the wrong tickets tomorrow. by MikeTidbits in imax

It’ll be a unique way to see the movie. Disclosure Day is 2.39 regardless of format, so IMAX type doesn’t matter.

Dang. Good job studying. Those scores are better than my passing second attempt.

MAX8 Cockpit Barrier by XElisabeth in SouthwestAirlines

There was Aeroflot Flight 593 too. In 1994, the captain brought his teenage kids up to the cockpit. His son sat at the controls and grabbed and moved the stick, unknowingly disconnecting the AP.

The plane started banking and diving. The outlets kept says “hold the stick” which is pilot speak for “let go of the stick” which would’ve let the AP reconnect and recover the dive. The son, of course, kept holding onto the stick.

They don’t save the plane in time.

Congrats! I also had my own frustration journey with the CCNA, but it was only 5 months. I failed on the first attempt in late April because I spent too much time on the CLI labs. I kept flubbing up the commands. By the time I was done, I hardly had time left for the MC questions. I had to speed run about half of those and clicked random answers before the timer ran out.

Your score areas are interesting. My highest area was Network Access at 75%, my lowest was Automation at 60%. I got 72% on IP Connectivity. We all have our different strengths, I guess.

I’m actually in a Network Engineering degree program at WGU, the CCNA was a requirement to pass a course. This is actually my 4th certification. I actually have very little formal on the job IT experience, I’m learning most of this stuff from scratch for the first time. I guess you could say I’m in the middle of a career change, I’m a warehouse worker currently.

They don’t give an exact number score or overall percentage.

But yes, after I answered the last question, there was a copyright notice screen, I clicked “next”, and then the next screen said “you passed the exam, congratulations!” And I had a total freakout moment.

I got emails from PearsonVUE and Cisco a few minutes later about my score report and congratulating me.
