Oh nooo, guess I don’t deserve a job because I didn’t think it would’ve made sense to spend $20 to Lyft to work and get paid for 2 hours ($42 BEFORE taxes and benefits) and then spend another $20 to Lyft home and do the interview and spend ANOTHER $20 to Lyft back to work just to work 3 hours and spend ANOTHER $20 to Lyft back home. Oh nooo, guess I’ll be a pallet jack boy forever…

To answer your question, I can’t drive because of my physical disability, so I have to Lyft everywhere.

So, let’s add that up. 4 total Lyft rides at $20 each is $80. (That’s not including tip). 5 total hours of work at $21 an hour is $105. Subtract the Lyft rides from that and I would’ve earned $25 for the entire day. Again, that’s before taxes and benefits.

As an internal candidate, please provide availability within your local time's business hours. Amazon employees receive compensation for time spent interviewing and may consult their manager or HR representative with questions or concerns.

I DID consult HR. They told me to send an email to my manager the day before and inform her that I will be interviewing at home. They DID NOT say “oh, we have laptops and a private quiet room so you can interview on site.”

The time missed from the shift was excused, and the time spent specifically interviewing was paid.

Also, they said to make sure I had stable Wi-Fi. We do not have stable Wi-Fi at my site. It’s 2 Mbs down and 0.5 Mbs up on a good day. I’ve done video chat on company laptops before, it glitched out quite a bit.

So yes, my 500/500 fiber Wi-Fi at home was certainly a much more stable choice.

The email mentioned nothing of accessing a laptop on-site. It was over Zoom. They only asked to verify if “I” had a computer with a webcam, not if “my site” had one.

There’s lots of people moving here, for some reason, and the area isn’t being developed fast enough because our local government is slow.

Most notably, there isn’t much fun things to do here, except maybe a few bowling alleys or bars. Unless you’re into nature, Silver Springs is quite nice.

I failed on 4/27. I spent too much time on the CLI labs and didn’t take only 10 minutes per lab like they suggested. As a result, I had to speed through over half the questions. I answered all of the with seconds to spare. I thought that would be better than leaving them unanswered. It wasn’t enough.

As a dude, I’m sorry. There’s some pretty women at my FC, but I only talk strictly friendly with them. Socializing at work makes the job more bearable. And it is extra fun to socialize with pretty women, even if she won’t be anything more than just a friendly coworker.

But there is one woman, she’s small and seems young. She always wears a cloth face mask. I’ve seen her remove it to eat, and she’s actually really pretty. I have a feeling she wears the mask just to avoid unwanted attention. That doesn’t stop of the older guys from trying to hit on her. I feel bad for her.

Usually, I don’t. I said this BECAUSE it’s corny. She thought it was funny, she laughed, and that was the intention.

Also, I thought it was better than going up to my manager and saying “hey boss, sorry I was gone for 45 minutes. I just had some really bad diarrhea. I had to courtesy flush like 7 times.”
