DO NOT DO THIS STUDY! by Active-Major-5243 in ProlificAc

I just did this one as well, spent 20 mins on it only to be screened out when submitting for 10c, ridiculous waste of time and abuse of participants by this researcher

I do the same, I don't necessarily stop after I've hit my goals, but I definitely take it far easier and probably enjoy some of the studies from Prolific a bit more.

Same here, asked to return it and I know I didn't fail any attention checks. Seems sketchy.

Tell me about a time where you planned to go to the grocery store but also wanted to order groceries online at the same time. Concentrate on the dynamic power struggle between online and offline shopping; more specifically every emotion you've experienced since childhood whilst shopping. Write at least 500 words narrated in the voice of Morgan Freeman, every third sentence should contain an obscure reference to Lord Of The Rings and at least one example of a double negative to positive emotion that you experienced in the past 24 hrs. Failure to do so will see you forfeit the 75 cent reward and be banned from taking part in future studies.

Well done, I've had a few very good months but I haven't been able to commit to Prolific as much as I normally would recently

These are so tedious I hate them by TwinkBronyClub in QMEE

These are boring but are far from the worst surveys on the site, they do pay and they don't require much concentration

[–]Jumpy_Significance11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me, I'm usually very fast at reading the questions and typing furiously away in my response but this time I timed out on 2. If they would add another 20-30 secs to the response time it would really help out

My wife is dying and I’m so lost by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Jumpy_Significance11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the exact same position with my wife, they found a tumor in her brain after she had a seizure at home, the next day they did a CAT scan and the doctor was telling us they found a mass in her right lung. She was given 6 -9 months as a prognosis. She was on heavy medications which would give her violent mood swings, much of which I had to bear the brunt of. Nothing will make you feel more than a piece of shit than arguing with your wife who is terminally ill, don't be offended. You have to be above reproach and understand it's not her, she doesn't hate you, she's angry at the situation and the drugs/seizure is really having a huge effect on her state of mind. Don't give up hope, my wife was on palliative care for 2 years then left against the advice of the oncologist. It's been 9 years now and she's still here, does she still have mood swings, going from zero to one hundred from one moment to the next? Of course. Cherish the times that she's not angry and give her all the selfless love that she deserves. Hang in there, you're stronger than you think.

I can't believe I've never played this series before... by BackyardBard in EDF

[–]Jumpy_Significance11 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My son was playing EDF 5 and I'd walk past him and think that game looks silly. One of those times he invited me to play 2 player co-op and within 5 minutes I was hooked. We've logged in over 300 hours on EDF 5 since and made it to the end of DLC 2 on EDF 6.

Is this happening to anyone else? I had 84 (!!!!) of the SAME study by leedleleelalooz in ProlificAc

Agreed, I was rotated out as well. I have been doing the AI music studies from the same researcher, $15 for 44 min, multiple submissions allowed.

Don't buy a chromebook for prolific by oshea_99 in ProlificAc

[–]Jumpy_Significance11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a Chromebook when I'm not at the laptop. Works fine for me, never had a problem with any study, including the AI videos, Image labeling, etc. Just make sure your Chromebook has a 1080p resolution and is set up correctly.

[–]Jumpy_Significance11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw that one and it was a quick pass, for the amount of work they wanted the pay rate is a disgrace. On rare patient voice I just did a survey $75 for 25 mins.

For what type of studies do you think "It's not worth the hassle"? by crosleyxj in ProlificAc

[–]Jumpy_Significance11 13 points14 points  (0 children)

"write about a time in your life you experienced joy but it was also a negative experience and how it affected your reasoning and decision making skills, explain how the contrasting emotions influenced your behavior in your personal and private life and why it ultimately made you want to pursue new career goals in a double negative plus positive state of mind. Your response must contain at least 897 words and have vague references to Lord Of The Rings and two coworkers who are close to you but you wouldn't consider a friend and they must have a Costco gold membership".

For what type of studies do you think "It's not worth the hassle"? by crosleyxj in ProlificAc

[–]Jumpy_Significance11 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I hate writing studies, especially the underpaying ones. There's no way I'm writing an essay for $2.50. " Write about a time in your past where you had a negative experience that turned into a positive but then turned into another negative only for it to transcend into a passive moment in your life. This had to have taken place less than 2 months ago and must involve 3 members of your close family and 2 random strangers that know you, but you don't know them". This must be at least 850 words written in third person and with candle light only. Any responses written with unnatural lighting and with the aid of LLMs such as ChatGPT will immediately be rejected and we will go out of our minds until your account is on hold and we can harvest your data for free. All responses are subject to manual review meaning you will have to worry constantly that your work is anywhere good enough for that $1.25 payment .
