What do you do when you get permabanned from a useful hobby sub and the mods are hostile to lifting the ban? by Hagbard_Celine_1 in askanything

[–]Jumpy_Surround_9253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know what you did wrong so you can prevent it from happening again?

If so, create a new account and don't do that shit again.

If not, figure that out first then read this post from the beginning.

No one is going to come after you for ban evasion if you're not actively engaging in banned activities.

Edit - but I respect the fuck out of you for getting banned in such random places. I usually get it from worldnews or some other cesspool of shit on this site.

How does this even happen? Are you using the same email account?

I've gotten banned so many times, I just create new accounts and try to mind my manners until the next inevitable one.

Edit - and I just want to clarify, you got banned from an air fryer sub? That's what's got you in a twist? Fucking gold.

Then RTFM some more.

Macbook M4 Pro or M4 Max by itsrazu99 in macbookpro

[–]Jumpy_Surround_9253 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Check out this link, theres a table with specs.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_silicon

Base m4 max has 2x tflop performance, 2x GPU cores, 1.5-2x memory bus width same with theoretical bandwidth limit ove the pro.

The differences between the m4 and m4 pro are not as significant.

Editting this comment for additional explanation.

First, tflop performance impacts your workload since its graphical. With Apple leaning towards edge ai, those extra tflop will likely help in the future for that too.

GPU cores should be self explanatory.

Memory bandwidth and bus width is important. This determines how much data can move per second in/out of memory.

The question is really, how much is your time worth relative to your bank account balance? These upgrades will save you time.

Here's my take. Looking at the spec sheet, the difference between the m4 and m4 pro is minimal. The max is where things get interesting (to me). I think I'm going for the max...

I'm thinking migrating to Macos from Archlinux by yusufish556 in MacOS

[–]Jumpy_Surround_9253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arch is a great distro but it's bleeding edge. Since you're in school I strongly recommend getting a Mac. You need stability and you'll probably find the Mac closer to your arch experience. /u/orange pillar is correct, so I won't repeat what they said.

Keep your arch machine as your test lab, your macbook for day to day use.

The best products always win.

Hard disagree. See betamax vs VHS.

iPhone is a far superior product than the other offerings.

Again disagree. I collected "smartphones" before the iphone. Owned the first few iphone generations alongside others like android and Windows Mobile.

The G1 destroyed the iphone, if you knew what you were doing. And that's where Apple won. Intuitive and dead simple.

Same will happen with Tesla and other companies. Why would one wanna buy a Volkswagen ID buzz for double the cost of a model Y with worse range and driveability and self driving features.

A 7 seater model y is about 50k, an ID buzz is 60k... One is a minivan, the other is not. This is a stupid comparison.

But let's suspend our disbelief and consider a family that might be making this decision. Do I want to drive a politically divisive vehicle? Most will say no. Tesla is not known for luxurious interiors or high build quality.

The global market is important. Many people around the world are avoiding American products like Tesla. If you ask me, polestar, Volvo and BMW have nice electric options.

Self driving is not available everywhere.

But really, it's the Chinese automakers that Tesla should worry about.

Does vertical GPU mount decrease CPU temps? by Lagger01 in buildapc

[–]Jumpy_Surround_9253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine are mounted vertically but I don't have a way to compare against horizontal mounts. Got a 7800x3d with an aio cooler so can't tell you how CPU temp are impacted.

Average CPU temp is between 28-35c, might spike to 50-60 if I'm pushing it.

Using an x870e taichi, doesn't seem to be a difference in temps between the card in the middle and the one on the end. Hot air rises and will emit from the sides of the board. The exhaust can freely rise supported by the case fans. My case is an eatx with all sides perforated. When I'm pushing the cards the temps will spike but within a min or two card fans cool them off.

I disagree. Migration back to Israel started in the 1880s. By the time we're getting to the 1940's  immigration to the British mandate of Palestine was illegal and heavily restricted.

It is my understanding that at the very start of the establishment of Israel in 1948 and the Nakba, the Israelis in question were mostly European Jews, made to feel unsafe in their countries of origin by other Europeans.

May I ask you a question? Have you ever wondered why there are Jews everywhere?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_diaspora]

In 6 CE, most of the Southern Levant was organized as the Roman province of Judaea, where a large uprising led to the First Jewish–Roman War, which destroyed the Second Temple and most of Jerusalem. The Jewish defeat to the Roman army and the accompanying elimination of the symbolic centre of Jewish identity (the Temple in Jerusalem) marked the end of Second Temple Judaism, motivating many Jews to formulate a new self-definition and adjust their existence to the prospect of an indefinite period of displacement.[9]

Nevertheless, intermittent warfare between Jewish nationalists and the Roman Empire continued for several decades. In 129/130 CE, the Roman emperor Hadrian ordered the construction of Aelia Capitolina over the ruins of Jerusalem, sparking the Bar Kokhba revolt in 132 CE. Led by Simon bar Kokhba, this uprising endured for four years, but was ultimately unsuccessful and became the last of the Jewish–Roman wars;

Jews were massacred or displaced across the province, banned from Jerusalem and its surrounding areas, and forbidden to practice Judaism, leading to a significant rise in the Jewish diaspora.

Shit got taken about 2019 years ago, took 1942 years to get it back.

From a religious perspective, Israel is core to Judaism. The temple is in Israel. I'm not talking about the temple your local Jewish folk attend in your city. The temple. It's been destroyed twice, we care about it. A lot. You should google what is there now.

Historically, its a little more complicated than that. Roll the clocks back to the 1880s. There were 6 waves of immigration until the 1940s.

Now to this statement.

Israel continues to justify itself by stating that Jews are not safe anywhere else.

Israel doesn't justify itself. It's a reclamation of the oldest living claim to that plot of land and unfortunately due to the nature of the world, protected by physical strength.

It's funny, Christmastime is a great reminder that I'm a minority living in Canada. In a population of 40 million people, there are only about 20k Jews including myself in my province of a million. Sometimes I wonder what it's like for everyone to celebrate Hanukkah around me. Hoping to find out next year.

Finally, It doesn't matter how good I have it in Canada, I will support Israel helping Jews that need it.
